I must have asked this 10 times on different threads with no joy. Somebody knows this. Spill! What is the static volume of the stock intake manifold? Not flow. Like if you filled it with water how much would it hold?
No. I asked him on his thread and he gave more flow numbers. Everybody's interested in the flow numbers. I'm not sure that volume has any practical purpose (other than my curiosity).
Ooh, that would be cool! I think the only holes you'd have to tape off would be the TB and PCV? If you go to all that trouble please measure carefully. I figured all these guys with the spare intakes laying all over their workbenches would have done it but you might be my one and only hope. Haha, I tried to estimate. I'm guessing it's roughly the same as the engine (6.1L). You can see here:
yea dave no problem I will use bottles like that fill them up and then pour them in to the intake till the water comes out the head's sides right? pm me more dead on directions on what and how you want me to do it. My cars going ot be 45 mins away from you with the intake manifold off you can always come by and do it your self if you like too
I would think that would do it? Turn it upside down, tape over TB and PCV holes and fill with water. Maybe better to seal the TB hole from the inside? Something like plastic wrap and tape? That way you don't risk getting water in the throttle actuator if it's not sealed (I have no idea). I wonder if distilled water would be safer? No chance for minute mineral deposits when it dries (haha, don't want water spots)? I wouldn't think that would be a concern but I'd just hate to have any effect from you doing this. If you use a 2L bottle to fill. Carefully fill the bottle to the same level each time, pour in until it just comes out the ports. (I'm assuming the ports will be higher than the plenum when it's upside down). Then you would only have to measure what was left in the last bottle to determine how much you put in. Could use a measuring cup for that. I think that might work?
yup that will work no problem as soon as my intake manifolds off I will start the fill. it might take till the weekend. no clue how fast they are going to work on the car.
