So I am on LXForums and i get this PM.... What do you guys who actually know things about stuff think.... theres NO way that even one of the worst exhaust installs can drop the power in an SRT soooooo much that it cant even break the tires lose.... AND....
sounds like he did a very similar exhaust mod as mine except for the flowmasters. am i reading it right that he removed the x-pipe as well???? not really sure what to say steve. i have a very similar set up and i know mine breathes MUCH better and runs much stronger!!! hell, when i recently had it done a second time to redo the pipes and increase from 2.5 in places, to actual 3", it REEEEEAAAAAALY woke up instantly!!!! find out what he did with the x-pipe, what size the inlet and outlet of the muffs are, and what size pipe he used in place of the reso's. not sure it will make THAT much of a difference, but curious to see what he did. bottomline, not really sure why it would lose power...... if it actually did!!!!! butt dyno's are not always the best!!! lol
maybe the computer doing some sort of overcompensation for the new exhaust? the only other thing i can think of is maybe he went with TOO MUCH of a free flow and now lacks the proper back pressure?
good call on the computer....that as much as anything could be it....but it should NOT have lost the ability to break the tires lose REGARDLESS of what happened....i dunno what the hell hes doing... OH and hes got a superbee if i didnt mention that yeah im over there every now and then hahahaha i have my GHETTO name on there SDC188
would the work he had done produce such a huge drop in back pressure that it would cause a 50tq+ drop?....he has what is essentially the same exhaust i have (at least from the cats back) and they would reaaaaally have had to screw it up badly (which is not out of the question)
His X-pipe is wrong. IF you don't have the x-pipe, you will lose power. I'm surprised he lost that much power, but who knows. Bottom line: fix the x-pipe, and make sure to leave it installed. Back when my car was the test mule for Dynatech headers, they dyno'd my car in every configuration possible. I now have Dynatech headers, no cats, and a magnaflow cat-back. EXCEPT - we hacked up the Magnaflow just to reinstall the factory x-pipe, even though it was smaller in diameter. Still picked up 10HP doing that.
i am leaning towards the x-pipe as well. kinda why i aksed this question earlier steve, but you NEVER RESPONDED!!!!!! his exhaust is not too much different than mine, but i have the factory x-pipe still in place!! seems from what he wrote that he modified the x-pipe and likely is the cause of his issues!
putz!!!! you still did not answer my questions????? did he in fact dick around with his x-pipe??? this would be good info to know and would allow the rest of us to know what NOT to do and we can tell others the same!!! lol
