I'll just dispense with all the disclaimers and cut to the chase. I was tooling down the hwy when a red celica (or so I thought) pulled onto the hwy one exit before mine. As a courtesy I pulled to the left lane to let him merge and I maintained at 60mph. As I neared my exit I wanted to kick 'er down one more time just to feel/hear my hemi. As I went past the celica an arm pops out the window with a big thumbs down. And it ain't no celica it's a supra. I guess he thought I was doing a ricer flyby. So I'm hard on the brakes and of course I miss my exit. After a little prodding from me, flashed lights and waving him back to me, yes back to me as when I jammed the brakes he flew past me. We line up and 3 honks and we're off. Now I know all about the tuned and re-turbo'd Supras advertising 750hp and all that so I'm honestly expecting that I might get spanked here. NOT EVEN CLOSE. We launch at 60mph, da' hemi's sweet spot, she downshifts into 2nd and I can hear him shifting and the blow off valve burping behind me. By 130mph he's 10 car lengths back. Now I get the thumbs up and me being a good sport, I return the favor. Great fun.........for me.
i am always amazed at the "all or nothing" i seem to find with some of these supra's. i have seen some around orlando that look like they might pack a punch and have nothing, and i have run across others that look down right stock and hand out some serious azz kickings!!!! good run and glad all turned out on the safe side!!!
Yeah, I honestly didn't know what I was in store for. It definitely had a turbo and it was fast, just not as fast. These hemi's pull so damn good from 60mph up. Great fun.
So you thought it was a Celica and found out it was a Supra. What *year* or version was the car you raced?
is your car stock or highly modified? you put 10 cars on a toyota supra that has a turbo.what year please. does any body have that famous ''BS'' flag.
No BS. But I don't blaim you guys as I thought the same thing. I could've easily ran into a ringer and had my azz handed to me. Been there done that. If I'd lost badly I wouldn't even have posted it. LOL. As for the year, it was similar to the one in the poster above without the body kit but with the wing. I like making posters too!
OK, you guys got me wondering what "stock" Celi......er Supra's run. Here's a link. http://www.fast-autos.net/vehicles/Toyota/1997/Supra_Turbo/ This is exactly the car I raced, complete with wing, but he didn't have these rims (which are fugly btw). 13.6 in the 1/4 is respectable, but SRT-8's are good for 13 flats. No need for the BS flag now......hopefully.
i dont doubt the story at all man, every supra ive raced has been slow as shit...from a roll or dig. i have yet to face a fast and the furious homo supra with 1000hp.
