I tried checking your website, but your cams aren't listed there. Can someone post or PM me the specs on your stage II and III 6.1L cams? I think you guys call them the track and race warrior. I also read something about a new grind x-something? Any more info on that?
Most of our cam specs are proprietary, but we will be releasing some of the specs here shortly. The XL grinds will not be released due to the fact that they are our new profiles. Feel free to give us a call and we can answer your questions a little better.
Part of our agreement with our cam grinder is that we will not release his cam specs. We are now releasing some of our cam specs except for our new XL grinds. I know it is not what you wanted to hear, but in order for us to maintain our relationship with him, we must honor his request.
If I may ask do the cams come then with a cam card? Im curious cause every cam ive ever bough had one. Not to sound like an ass but thats like me selling you a computer and telling you trust me it a great processor...you can determine which processor is in it after you buy it but wouldnt you want to know before hand.
comp cams does the grinding, but we pay a very well-known cam grinder to profile all of our camshafts. He will then send the cam card to comp, they will grind it and ship it out. When I receive the cam, I remove the cam card and ship the cam out. I know this bothers allot of you guys, but that is our policy in order to keep our cam profiler happy. For what it is worth, very few competitive drag racers reveal cam specs nor do renowned cam profilers where profiling a cam is there only job. Again I apoligize, but it is out of our hands.
Hey I understand its out of your hands but even in competitive drag racing the guy running the cam gets to know the specs right? or are you saying that his engine builders are going in blind? Thanks for the quick responses to!
Andy...I know I am going to get slapped for this....but competetive drag racers don't release their specs because they are assembling the motors. On some of the larger grinds there are some people that would like to degree the cam.......which cannot be done without a card.......I hope that didn't come out offensive.
Not offensive at all. There are lots of customers who revceived their specs in the interest of installing the cam. All of our authorized installers have the specs as well. If someone is getting installed at a location otherwise, we will provide them with the necessary info for installation.
Guys please understand, I answered the questions, lets move on. We choose not to release our cam specs. 1fastsedan wants to know the cam specs of the cam he is buying. I understand his position and we have talked offline about it. I am sorry, but I am not in a position to release the specs and I understand that that will prevent some guys from buying cams from us, but for those of you that do buy from us, you get the satisfaction of knowing you have the most powerful cams on the market. SRT8bby has our track warrior cam and stage 2 heads and has dynoed just over 450rwhp on a stock block.
To add to what Andy said about my dyno, that was also with about 25 miles on Hal and the heads/cam. As it learned over the following weeks, I have no doubt that the power went up slightly. That was also with a B&G 2. Andy is working with me on a CMR tune, I think this will also show gains. I'm not going to get into if I think it is right or wrong for them to release the info, I just wanted to point out that I'm very happy with the purchase I made. If that helps at all.
Most competitive drag racers who rent motors are not even allowed to open the motor. The engine builder seals the motor and if seal is broken..all heck breaks loose If your on a contract and reputable then you get to leave motor in car from race to race. If not and your renting race to race then motor most likely is pulled at end of qualifing or on Sunday if you were lucky enough to qualify. I'm sure the competive engine builder wants to know all aspects of the pieces he is putting together for his customer. And if I were installing a cam in my car I'd definately want to know the specs. But I understand both sides of this discussion. When money is involved things can get touchy. Especially when its BIG money Grump gets about $685k a year for contract customers. Cagnazzi is being paid 1.3m by one of his customers. Schmidt's had at least 10 people renting his motors at Indy and alot of them came back to the trailer Saturday night. I understand this is on a bigger level but it is still the same problem. When someone is going fast or producing power they want to reap the benefits while they can before the competition catches up. here are a few pics of motors being returned to Steve at Indy this year.
THAT IS TRUE, BUT LAST TIME I LOOKED I HAVE TO BUY THE PARTS IN MY CAR. SO HOW MUCH WOULD IT BE TO RENT A MOTOR FOR PPP? BUT I AM INTERESTED TO KNOW WHERE YOU GOT THOSE DOLLAR AMOUNTS FROM.
Don't think PPP is up to the renting motor category yet but you could ask them. I just saw the "competitive drag racers" comment and had to chime in How do i know about the prices?......there aren't to many secrets in the PS pits...even though they try to keep them secret
To the guys that understand, I appreciate that. I wish I could tell you guys what you want to hear, but in this matter I cant do that just yet.
