Ya gotta add some cost estimates when you throw out shit in Chinese so I can understand what you're talking about and whether I should get excited or not! LOL So, to run MORE boost....I need a forged bottom end, and a pulley, and tune....what else?? I don't need to go huge....just more!! "IF" I can get some killer deals is it possible to buy a blower, forge the bottom end, half shafts, and tune for $12,500??? That's the real question...
Rick there is no way in hell your gonna set up a motor to run better then 8lbs of boost for 12K. Sorry man, but by the time your done with everything you'll have blown your budget and have nothing left over for all the other stuff you need. I know I'm gonna catch shit for that one. But do your homework, ask the guys that are doing it get their input.
last time i went to barona there was no ricers there, they usually don't go up there they run the Q. better take your tuner with you to adjust for the alt.
Stroker motor maybe not, but a small overbore and ALL forged internals can be done for right around 9 - 10K. And I am on 12lbs of boost. neener neener neeeeeeeeeeeener.:thongue2:
If you go on the sport compact night there will be some ricers there. I raced a couple hondas and a bmw 335i but your right way more ricers at the Q.
This could be a way to go pal! Just like if you are being chased by a bear, you don't need to be faster than the bear, just the other sorry son of a bitch you were hiking with!
Talk to me about it the next you pay for the labor.............neener neener neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeener!!!:thongue2: hahaha, really Rick. But the time you have the motor built, paid for the blower and installation, upgraded the fuel system and any other custom aspect of the build PLUS the tune. It gets pricey brudder. Good example. I helped one of my buddies price a 426 build set up at 9.5 with all the gooodies needed built by one of our legit vendors that builds a quality motor. That unit all by it's self before delivery is 12K. And that's without the blower.
Oh....BTW....I took Adam for a spin around the Proving Grounds tonight. He didn't exhibit any of the fear Jeff or Matt verbally exuded. He didn't have the "nervous" giggle you do. He was one cool cat....BUT, he did let out a faint "oh jeez" or something similar once...maybe twice! LOL
Oh BTW, that HHP deal is looooooooooooong gone. That price was for the first two motors. And any of these budget built forged bottom ends are just that..........budget.
I "might" be able to gather 15k by December. I'm going to feel things out and see what is realistically feasible based on that budget (kinda funny using the word "budget" when talking about making my car "fun").
Hey, don't count yourself out! I managed to get my Vortech, KWs, V-tires & chroemed wheels for about $3000 (after I sold the parts coming off my car). Persistence, research, timing and salesmanship... and wala! *and the wife doesn't hate me for it!
I work about 2 miles away from Rick's place. He wanted to check out a heads/cam car so we met up tonight. The proving grounds run wasn't too bad. Yeah, I did let out a comment when we almost rear-ended some slow POS.
Then you're only a few miles from the rest of us! The proving grounds are great... but there are slow drivers and boat trailers that use that road often...
Adam... so what was your opinion on the handling of Rick's car? To me, its like a 4200 lb go-cart when he dials up the dampening. Sick-sticky.
