THANKS! i love huskies they have so much personality but they are a bit too independant (run away when they get the chance, etc) but you guys already know that. i think my next dog will be a retriever or a black lab or something like that
Since you brought it up I'll tell you a story which happened about 2 weekends ago... and I was literally sinking into the ground (almost like quicksand). On to the story... We went to a park to take a family picture together, the wife and I with both dogs to make Christmas cards to send to family. The black/white (Max) escaped from my wife's hand and started to run off. Lucky for us were on an island inwhich there's only one way to get in and get out. So my wife is chasing after the dog with Motegi (red/white). I hope in the car and corner the dog on one end while my wife is on the other end. He went over towards the beach end behind a bunch of brush and trees. Well, there's a part where you can enter. I saw the waterish mudd and it look dry on the other end. So what do I do... I jump it and my legs sink right in. Pulled one leg out and my shoe came off. Dug for my shoe and got it put it on... my other leg is stuck. I manage to bring myself higher and decided to jump even further think it was clear and dry. Um yeah I suck even further. So now my shoes are trashed and I'm literally losing my shoes every I sink and get myself out. Next thing I know Max is running into the ocean, I guess he realized he would sink. I proceed to try to head back unto dry land and forget about trying to go through that to get the dog. Well on the way back I definately sunk into this quickmud/sand because it was sand since its an island beach. I literally was sinking and had to grab unto a sign to pull myself out... I was there for about 2 minutes trying to pull myself out. The sign said, "Caution : DEEP HOLES do not enter". Me so worried about the dog I didn't pay attention to the sign. Well the dog got caught by someone else that was also there and gave the dog back to us. Let's just say I was not a happy camper and we went home and didn't get to take the picture. Following weekend we give it a try now to take the picture at my mother-laws house and my wife lost the hold on the leash again. Max took off, I jumped for the leash and busted two of my toes... one worse then the other. I was wearing boots. Luckly I caught him because he was taking a dump lol.
thats a good story man! weve had all of our dogs for at least 2 years except Gracie and the oldest ones are 7 and 8. even them, KNOWING they are in a place where they are loved fed and treated good (my mom treats them better then she treats me) will bolt as soon as they see the gate open. they have 3 acres to run on and will still run away. couple times the neighbors have had to return them to us. but God i love those dogs, they talk to me. do yours talk? we call Marina Reenie Roo-Roo cuz shes always going roo roo roo roo. if you give stanzi sled commands she will go NUTS if shes not hooked up to a sled and then they all join in howling.
You have your hands full. We do with just two but if we could we would have more because they are amazing dogs and very human like. Our red/white (Motegi) talks to us, Max doesn't yet... but he's starting to be a little more vocal learning from Motegi. Nickname for Motegi is Bobo, we don't have one for Max yet. My wife would enjoy to be on a sled with huskies.
I am whitefwdsm wife if you have noticed.....I have seen photos of the street sleds before from another husky owner in Orlando but I have no idea where to get them from. Motegi is a huge talker if we have company over and they aren't paying attention to him he will start to talk. Max does get vocal sometimes. We haven't had Max for that long. So we are still learning about him.
Your welcome, Motegi is pretty good about not bolting at the door if you tell him to stay he will usually stay. Motegi got out of the house I think twice and the first time he just ran up to the car and sat infront of the door, he thought he was going for a ride. The second time he got out our neighbors were outside with there kids and he is such a people dog that he went over to the kids.
