Its not done. If everything were out of the car, then putting it all back together no problem. But you have to remove a lot just to pull the engine and tranny together.

Tim got a shortblock, so the head from the old motor needs to be removed and put on the new motor. Might as well buy a whole timing belt kit with water pump because it will need to be done. Needs a new headgasket, etc. A upper motor gasket set from Dodge would probably be the ticket there.

This isn't a one day job if you've never done it. Things like parts or tools needed that you run into and don't have. So there's obstacles.

The more people that can help, the better.

Why not? Your right there, might as well. If you do the timing belt and so fourth and leave the water pump and you need to change the water pump in 42,000 while the timing belt/tensioner in 60,000 miles it would be a waste then. Because in 42,000 miles you'll need the water pump and you'll need to remove the belts and so fourth to get to it, you'll need new belts again. Your water pump can fail 1,000 miles after the car is running or it can fail at another 42,000 miles. You don't know when it will... I don't know when it will.

Sorry but its a risk. Water pump fails I'm not looking forward to removing everything off the side of the engine to do it. So it needs to be done while the motor is out. You want more new parts for safety measures using a few old parts that are salvagable to use.

    There's parts I wouldn't re-use and that is:
    Paper gaskets
    Timing Belt and tensioner
    Water Pump
    Headgasket
    Head Bolts
    and a few others

There's parts I would change to aftermarket parts or new with the motor and transmission out and that includes:
Flywheel (maybe unless it can be re-surfaced)
    Clutch/Pressure Plate/TOB
    Flywheel Bolts
    and possibly some others.

    Your call.

I will make a list on the stock parts we will need and will have those prices to you shortly.

Try going with an aftermarket clutch and flywheel if the funds are available for it.

Let me know if that works out with the clutch and flywheel with the certain vendor.

Any cam gears will work BUT Rage-tek is the only one's you can use with your timing belt cover. Any other aftermarket cam gears you CAN'T retain and use your timing belt cover and will have the timing belt exposed as well as the gears. So yes, you can get Fidanza but you won't be able to use your timing belt cover.

    Thought you had Dan's number?

Ah, I think you got it all wrong. I believe its 60k when the timing belt and water pump will need to be replaced. It's like that on many cars as far as that set mileage so that's where I'm getting my mileage off of. Just because I read of some guy with an SRT-4 that took his car to 120k without changing his timing belt and the timing belt snapped. He was at the 2nd interval of changing the timing belt and didn't do it 60k ago.

I always play it safe now especially since the car is so new to keep up with maintenance.

Our car is at 45,000 miles and the timing belt hasn't been replaced nor water pump. 15,000 more miles so like the end of next year or so it will need to be done. Hoping by then I get cams and cam gears.

60k is when I suggest to change the timing belt and its parts and the water pump.
