As I attempt to data log and optimise my injectors I have discovered (IN TIME) a real problem with the SIEMENS/BOSCH Injectors!!! It seems they are literally falling apart. These pictures are of TWO seperate batches bought from two seperate parts of the country!! You dont want these tin retainers going into your engine!!! Injectors on the left have lower retainer coming apart!! The one on the right is OK....for now. [/IMG] Another angle
One set came from California.... one set back east. I am working with Mike from Inertia doing some data logging with different injectors and happened to stumble on this issue while swapping them out. I kept throwing a misfire code in #7 and the ring was just hanging on and definetly in the spray path. This woulda coulda been ugly if the motor ingested it!!!
RYAN.....stick with the Chrysler SRT4 injector in your blown application. 2003 SRT4 stock injector, 47 lb/hr flow - PT# 4852747AA 2004 + SRT4 stock Injector, 52 lb/hr flow - PT# 4891574AB SRT4 Stage 2 & 3 Turbo Kit Injector, roughly 67 lb/hr flow - PT# P4510529 - Stage 2 & 3 SRT4 +30% over stock Ted from Mopar Supercenter gave me this info.
For super close pics, use the MACRO setting on your camera. It's icon looks like a little flower/tulip. A stable mounting surface for the camera also helps. Tripods = good!
Thanks again! I will be picking your brain in the future. I'm lucky to have John, Adam, Ralph and the rest of the guys out here. To date it looks like "6" of us in the San Diego area will be running the Vortech Supercharger!!!!!!!!!! I see several group buys in our future......................HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Damn Steve... What type of Injectors? Make, Model, Size? This will definitely assist those guys who are upgrading to larger injectors. And yes, the SRT4 Injectors are the BEST route to go. Road proven and trust worthy. Glad you didn't suck the ring in...
They are the Siemens 37lb and 42lb, high impedence. Very poor quality for a Bosch Siemens product..... imo. Bosch/Siemens on the left........SRT4 Mopar on the right.
wow steve, another very good bit of info to have for the group!!! glad you caught this now, not later!!!
Steve, I gots sumttin for jews to think about. Many times I've seen some thermo plastic become extremely bridal after being sprayed with contact cleaner, brake cleaner, you get the picture. So if you have some laying around the pad, see what happens after a good dose.
Just an FYI: The stock OEM SRT4 Mopar injectors are also made by Siemens. Below are some pics of the stock 5.7 truck and stock('04 Stage 1) SRT4 injectors. My camera sucks but "Siemens/Deka" is stamped right on them.
It seems that the ones with the metal retainer ring the secures the "O" ring are intregal to the body or pressed sturdier. The plastic or tin retainers are lose and the ring itself is cracking.
I don't know about the "tin" ones but I do know that the plastic ones pop off/on. You can remove them and replace them with new ones without issue if using the plastic ones.
