Anyone in here running a Apexi AFC or even a Neo? If so... I have a question. Stage 3 w/toys and a bunch of bolt-ons. I've been tuning on DAB 3, haven't been able to finish tuning the car (rain got me one day so had to cut it short)... right now taking some fuel out its around 11.0 afrs (looking to achieve 11.5-12.0). Do I continue to tune in DAB 3 or tune in DAB 0 instead? Normal street driving... daily driving its left on DAB 0. Just a bit confused on what the PCM will do, if lets say I tune for DAB 3 but run the car in DAB 0. I'm thinking it would run pig rich but maybe my logic is wrong. It is not running Stage 2/3 injectors either. Its FIC 625cc injectors that Aaron from Realtune sells and he stated: Just needing to know which DAB setting would it be best to tune on and wondering how the others would be compensated by the pcm. Thanks!
tune it on 2 or 3 cause there manly the same except in 1st and 2ed gear where on DAB2 boost is lower on 1st and 2ed gear and the same on 3-5
Thank you! Just learned something new. I was always wondering why DAB 2-3 the boost was mainly the same. Cool, I will then finish tuning the car in DAB 3. Thanks again!
Lol, you need to buy yourself an SRT-4 :bigwink:  that was funny but wrong in a way but I know your joking.
tuning is usually only done at wot. you don't tune for daily driving unless you're using a ems or other stand alone. you will run rich at less than wot. you can tune these ranges if you want, but most people don't as it's not as important. i was running a dtec for a while and i was tuned only at 100%. this caused me to run richer when just cruising around, but it wasn't killer rich. the ecu will pull fuel to get a/f's to stoich at idle and while just cruising. it's accelerating at less than 100% that you'll see yourself go rich.
Thanks for the input and advice Amy! I've been tuning at WOT. The DTEC itself has 25/50/75/100% (which is really nice) while the Neo does not (just Hi and Lo). So I've just been tuning the Hi's really on the Neo. I'm pulling fuel anywhere from 3k point (WOT) to redline (rev-limiter). So far the afr's are around 11.0 and my goal is to try to achieve 11.5-11.8. I do have another question which has me stumped. Now lets say I finally tune on DAB 3 and get the 11.5-11.8 afr's. What would happen if I were to run race gas and HOM. How would that affect the afr's... will it go leaner or richer?
I don't think your AF should change for HOM, you're still running the same boost levels, just more timing. I don't think the computer adds any fuel for HOM, at least it stays around 11.4 on mine both on and off HOM.
as mike said, it will stay roughly the same. you might see a little leaner (maybe .1 or .2), but that's a maybe. all hom does is change timing to allow for proper burning of high octane fuels. the neo i'm assuming has multiple maps availible (haven't actually played with that unit yet, but the safc does so i can't imagine them removing that feature), so you can have a street and a race gas map. you can run leaner on race gas than you can on pump gas. i generally have my street map running around 11.4 and my C16 map at 12.5.
Mike and Amy thank you both for answering my questions. I fully understand now on how it all works. Thanks again!
