These things look like they were made for our cars. If we get a few more in on the group buy, they are $150 per set. We AZ folk are talking about pooling together to fly JAAK out to join us for a paddle shifter install party. The guy figured out how to wire the things into the stearing column though some unused pins. The thinkin is our steering columns are Mercedes and they were probably built to accomodate paddle shifters in the AMG cars. In other words, you can wire these things up without any third party middleware. JAAK has it down straight. http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=114047 C.
Not sure. Someone with a Jeep is ordering them. I think the paddles could be setup to work with the shifthammer if the steering column isn't similar. C.
You need the Jaak hack instead of the shift hammer. You guys should start now looking for someone to do the install for you... I'd rate this at about 3.7 orders of magnitude past EQ capabilities (Ok, maybe Stretch due to audio install experience).
That is why I am suggesting we get JAAK over here to help us through. If we all do it, then we can help others with questions who attempt it. C.
Well, yes it would be nice to have JAAK over here. For this particular mod he already has extremely detailed instructions with a million professional quality pics posted over there. ...still no hope for the EQ...:sorry:
Yes, I believe so -- on '05 through '07 cars anyway. WITH shifthammer http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=114669 WITHOUT shifthammer http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=116507
We have enough in the group buy so we are getting them for $150. All serious supercars have paddle shifters now. It is just a matter of time before this becomes a "must do" mod. Ya'll ought to get you some now at this cheap price. C.
Looks like we have 55 sets of paddle shifters going out in this group buy. You can still get in until tomorrow. The guy called Mercedes to make sure they had enough. They said they did, but the price will be going up after this group buy. I guess they think they can get some more gravy from such a popular item. We here in Phoenix are going to fly JAAK down from Canada to supervise our paddle shifter install party. If any of you from close by states want to join in and help bring JAAK down and get your paddles installed with all of us, you can post in the following thread: http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=116641 We are talking about a run up to the Grand Canyon on Sunday the day after the install party too. I can just see the pictures now. Grand Canyon in the background and a gaggle of LXs in the foreground. C.
Now THAT sounds really cool! I have this image of it looking like a speed chess match with JAAK running up and down a row of LXs with people installing their paddles
I jumped into this myself. I have custom shifthammers but you can't beat a direct, wired connection. I have a deep abiding love for the forward facing F1-style buttons but I'll learn to do paddles. Can't be that much slower.
Now if we can get some of you cali folks over to join us for the Paddle Shifter install party with our special guest JAAK who came up with the way to wire the shifters into our existing steering column structure. If you type azlxc.com, it will take you to our forum at LXF and you will find the install party thread. C.
I think my wife would KILL me if I spent another $170 in gas to come. I have a few "good 'ol boys" here in SD that I KNOW can figure it out! LOL P.S. John, Adam, and Ralph....did I ever tell you how cool you guys are?
Bud, I'm the electronics guy and I worked with Jaak on a trick fan mod over a year ago. I accept cash bribes. Just an FYI.
