Do it! Track down this tow company and make them pay for your repairs. With others involved and the cops looking it you gotta good case bro, gotta make idiots like that pay! I'd do it.

That is their standard procedure. If you know the name of the towing company, you can also contact them and explain why you were not on the initial report at the scene.

You were probably the only smart one who actually pulled off of the highway?

DRKEN55... it is referred to as "counter report" that you will file with the CHP @ their office..... If they find the offender it is all good they are or should be held accountable..

in the mean time check with your car insurance provider... they may be able to assist as this is considered an accident which you are considered to be not at fault... you may be our of your deductible though...

an "encounter report" is what we used to do after the shift has ended.. well at least back in my day.. :bigwink: and usually involved women and alcohol..

so if you go in asking for an encounter report.. they may want to know if you desire a good encounter or a bad one???? choose wisely...

Sorry to hear that Steve. I'd be sooo pissed myself. Here we have Ministry of Transportation Enforcement officers that specically cruise out and fine and impound unsafe commercial vehicles...but they focus on transport trucks. They can pull you over and give the company a fine depending on what the fault is. I really can't believe the cars I see when we go shopping in the burbs of Detroit. We have to travel down 1-75 and some cars and trucks are literally falling apart. It's one of the reasons why every car needs a passed safety inspection in order to be sold to another person. We just don't see that sh*t here. I really hope you can get that company as they are endangering lives and things definitely could have been worse. Hope the ride is finished perfectly for you man.

Eh... driver probably just forgot to put the pin in or put it in correctly. Those things are just like hitch pins.

Drkness, we got a bunch of little plastic air deflectors under the car also. Might ask the dealer if they checked for all of those too. The belly pan is not for rock climbing. It's primarily for aerodynamics.

Yikes, Steve. Sorry to hear about this. Anytime I head north on 680 or 80 I'm scared of freak debris. Seems like there's a lot of it up that way. :chair:

And yeah, the belly pan's more about aerodynamics than protecting anything, which is why if you screw up and rip part of it loose on a curb *cough* you need to get it bolted back on before you do any spirited driving. I heard of a guy having the belly pan fly off and take out his rear wheel because it wasn't secured up front. Not cool!
