What is the easiest way to tell whether or not you need new pads, without waiting to hear brake squeel/diminished stopping ability?!?! I thought I heard some squeel the other day and this got me thinking (and nervous).
Do you still have the stock pads? How many miles? Take a look at the pads and see how much material is left...if it is getting close to the metal wear indicators you need to change them soon.
Yep stock brembo pads. I'll check it out... 'metal wear indicators'... where/what do they look like?!?!
Make sure you check the inboard pad too. You'll need to pull the wheel to look. On our cars (unlike most) the rears tend to wear out before the fronts due to ESP using them.
just take a wheel off, get your hands a little dirty, and visually look at them, inside and out!!! they are very easy to remove and replace with some nice PQ pads with less dust!!! heheheheheheehhe remember, only "3" feet of stopping difference!!! dahahahaahahahaha *waiting for rick to chime in with "nuteured srt" comments.....*
Is that a new pic Jon, lol! You were supposed to throw those bad boys away ... or are they new ones, lol! Use ESP much?? Hahhahaha! GREAT pic, told you it would be usefull again!!
Momo...you know I only live a stones throw away from you...... It's pretty easy to just look at them...even if they don't have vinyl....
Same pic as last time, and yes I threw them away.Saved the pic for future references such as this. Actually took my Magnum in to the stealership the other day for a tranny leak (bad nag plug?is what they told me) they also did their " 16 point inspection" and claim my front brakes are at 30% LOL riiiiiiiiiight with only less then 3k miles on them I don't think so! Yes I use ESP, only turn it off for fun ever so often. There are to many non driving idiots in tampa, and rainy season just started!
Jeff, I'm gonna take a peek this weekend at them, likely Sunday... if you're not too busy... we'll ask Rick to stop by too, in case the car falls on us, he can crumple it up with one hand while adminitering 1st aid and direct pressure with the other.
I'm never too busy for car stuff.....Even if it pulls me away from my new TV...lulz.... Besides....I need to do a little upkeep on my car too.....
Momo can detail your car while you check his brake pads. After all, he used to be in the detailing business.
Stay on topic, Dave! LMAO... yeah, I thought about working a little harder by starting a side job... then, no takers... then reconsidered that baby Momo is a 2nd full time job. BTW: my car is slick as a gooses greased ass after her clay bar and nxt wax this weekend.
