I'll take some pics tomorrow, if requested. Here's his car: http://www.rrab.com/barnarr.htm#top The color he has is called "Magnolia", but it's actually an off-white. Nice looking, esp. for such a slick ride. The specs say the front rotors are 348mm (13.7"). They look much bigger. Steve- speaking of "sex", the guy who produces the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (Ed Razek) drives a Conti GT. I see him at the airport and on Morse Road on occasion. Nice ride, but I think I could take him. Then again, he could buy me. And, if I'm dropping $200K on a vehicle, it's probably gonna say "Aston" or "Martin" or "Vanquish" on it....and Rachel will be driving it.
hahaha, ive driven a vanquish. it was the most thrilling 10 minutes of my life.....and yes, i include that other stuff too. :bigwink:
Before anyone tries to play the BS card, I went across the street and took some quick pics: Sorry about the quality. It *is* 12:45AM. Also, I'm not sure WTF the deal is with the paint on that fender. I'll ask tomorrow. Looks like it's been re-painted or replaced. Odd.
lol, we believe you dude. there is no reason not to. yeah, it looks like the paint is diff. thats the case a lot of the time when an accident happens with a high end auto. hard to match factory paint when each one of these cars is hand built and hand painted.
Agreed. I thought "accident" as well, but then again.... - I know the current owner hasn't been in any accidents. - He says it rides as smooth at 30 as it does at 100. If something hand-made like this were damaged, the ride would most likely suffer afterwards. - It was purchased after the original 24 mo. lease expired, and only had 12K on it. Not a lot of uncaring punk kids lease these, so it was probably driven pretty lightly. Well, at least compared to how this forum normally drives. LOL - You don't see a lot of Arnages (or Bentley's for that matter) flipped over or on WreckedExotics.com. I'll find out WTF in a few hours. I'm not sure the current owner even knows; in the daylight, it's completely undetectable. Maybe it's got something to do with the clear-coating on that piece?
haha, a lot of old people buy em though and you know how that goes.... it may be a clearcoat, but i would wager its a totally diff paint.
Well, it turns out that I got to get under the hood of the Bentley, if only for something simple: More on that later. CarFax came up clean on the Bentley, so the mystery continues. I took a pic of the hand-painted pin-striping down the side of the car: That would be REALLY hard to get perfect again. I think it might be a paint process or clear coat issue. The fit and finish on the Bentley is absolutely amazing. Now I know why Queen Elizabeth rides in an Arnage. And the pic for Keith:
he prob paid for the repairs himself and never had an ins company look at it. that just reaffirms in my brain that the original owner was some old guy. my grandfather would do the same thing.
Here's a shot of the sealant that connects the fender to the main frame of the body structure inside the door jamb: That's original sealant with the original paint on there. My vote is that it's a paint or clear coat issue from the factory. Duplicating that seal- with that paint- would be next to impossible.
Ok, Ok, it's original paint! :drugs: Love the pics Kevan..... NO manual??? WTF I heard the way to clear that light is to drive straight to Vegas, pick up a couple of "travel" companions, play high stakes poker till about 3:00am and head back. That should do it!:dancing:
AWESOME! If it doesn't clear the warning light, then at least you don't give a crap about it on the ride back! LOL ----------------------------- After doing a little more research, I had a theory but had to wait until dark to test it. The owner was kind enough to flip the Arnage around so I could take a pic in the same spot, but of the pass. side: Voila! The same darkness appears on the pass. fender as well. MY THEORY: - For the model year 2002, there were only (2) Arnages built that came in the color "Magnolia". One was a convertible; this was the only hardtop. - More than 50% of the Arnages built (any model year) are a black/black combination. - The original purchaser was very impatient and requested many times that his Arnage be delivered quicker (hearsay, but may be relvant). My guess is that the factory used fenders that were already sprayed for the black cars to do this Magnolia Arnage, and thus the darker tint on those parts when a nighttime flash picture is taken. Under normal daylight or even fluorescent lighting, no difference can be seen. But using a flash, at night, the difference can be seen. I liken this to the photographic process they use to show bruising on a human body post-mortem. We moved the car around a bunch today, under perfectly sunny skies and 80F temps. To the naked eye, there was NO WAY to see any difference in paint. But once that flash hit it at night, the difference was evident. The current owner doesn't care. LOL As he says, it's a stunning car that drives wonderfully and he loves every mile behind the wheel. I have to agree.
Send them a pic with the VIN and I'm sure they will respond with exactly how that came to be. Probably offer to fix it too.
:friends::bigwink::king: Did you try holding down the "trip odometer button" by the speedo? opcorn: Other than that, I got nothin. As you said, they don't use OBDII, so it *could* have to got to the dealer to get shut off. .... Nice thing about Rolls Royce, they use the same "Service Light Shut-off" tool as BMW.:erm:
The front end "could" have been repainted..... :crying: There are over 400 variations of "WHITE", you know. .......... Glasurit (http://www.glasurit.com/) (who supplies Bentley with paint) has 76 variations of "White". It's an easy mistake... and NOT one that Bentley would make at the factory. (Info was given to me on paint by a 20 year veteran in the industry, that is currently painting $20Million dollar jets for Cessna/Citation).
Ahhhh...not true. *SOME* RR came with BMW computers, and some came with a Zytek + Bosch setup (ever try to get 3 different computers to talk to each other?), and some with a complete Bosch setup. BMW tech stuff will work great on BMW-powered Bentleys, but not on all RR-powered Bentleys. It gets a little confusing thanks to the bidding war between "zee Germans". BTW- *All* cars brought into the US are required to have an OBD or OBDII port. I was thinking the same thing, BUT..... That doesn't explain the factory pin-striping (hand-painted) that matches up perfectly, nor does it explain the RTV being intact...and factory painted. I also checked tolerances between the fender and door on both sides. The were within 0.25mm of each other. I want to believe that it was someone else, but everything points back to the factory.
haha, kevan you do far too much research. i would have gone over to see if i could help, told him to go to see the dealer, then left.
