Well, I've got to agree with Diablosport's response to those saying 9r04 has neutered the firm shifts of earlier versions....IT'S PLACEBO!!! I did all the normal stuff I've done with earlier versions: raised shift points, rev limiter 6900, rear O2 sensors off, and lower fan settings. I did change my autostick back to auto upshift after reading about some "potential" adverse affects by having the car hitting the rev limiter all the time!

The only negative I have is downshifting in Auto Stick. I don't know if this showed up with 9r04 or not, but I don't think I felt it with r18.
I notice that the downshifting when in Auto-Stick is "clunky", at 2 to 1 is very noticble. Try it and let me know what you feel, just leave it in Auto Stick for a litttle while and see how it sounds when you are gently slowing down for a stop (let it downshift on its own).
It is not there when in Auto.
I am also running "Raised Shift points", I have not tested to see if "Raised shift points" turned off has any effect.

I'm running this version for the 93CAI Performance tune and it made the most power out of all the tunes I tried on the dyno, and the A/F was very safe.
The jeep runs like a raped ape on crack with this tune.

That's great news. I think I'm just going to stay with R18 until they come out with some TCM programming. I like R18 and the shifts are very firm so I'll stay put for know, plus my CMR is based off the R18 tune.

True, true...but I usually like a few peoples opinions before I take an irreversible plunge. LOL

I'll give it a try tomorrow. Initial impressions are that it is a WELL put together tune. With 17 I got some "weird/jerky" throttle responses from time to time.

Yep, me too...I added 3% across the board and logged it afterwards and got a consistent 12.1 across the board.

I did it out of "believed" necessity to not have the cats throwing codes anymore....that and I was curious if the shift point "issue" is/was placebo or not! IMO it is placebo!

9r04 clunks on the (automatic) downshift when in autostick mode. ...and I think it's the 3-2 down shift, not the 2-1. The 2-1 shift happens when you're going about 0.1 mph or when you're actually stopped. The 3-2 down shift happens about 5 mph. It clunks on mine. It does not clunk when in automatic.

This also leads me to believe the torque management may be different between automatic and autostick?

I went and did four stops from 4th gear. It HAS the clunk ONLY when downshifing from 3rd to 2nd. "To me" it doesn't really matter because I only downshift on manually when in autostick. But, it is good to know that way DS can address the issue for future tunes!

I wonder if this crom will delete the o2 sensors on a 2007?!?! I couldn't delete the sensors with 18... kept getting error codes.

Rick, we might have to compare this weekend!

Momo.... I thought we just talked about this? You're not going to have hi-flow cats. Why are you expecting codes?

I think Jason already removed his cats....but, he's already received a one week bump for the install...so maybe he's NOT counting his chickens before they hatch! lol

I wonder how we are going to be able to use the Preds with the Vortech systems? I'm sure they will "tune" it with overly safe perameters. Haven't even got the thing back yet and already thinkin about different tunes with PP Heads, undersized pullies, etc.

I don't think the tune is the issue. I'm thinking the issue is how much power do you want to add to a stock engine. If they're adding 25% is that conservative? and how much more are you willing to go? You could probably add more with long term engine life being the tradeoff.

Definitely going to build up the internals right after some half shafts and some handling upgrades. I probably won't even do the under sized pully before beefing up the insides a little.

Sure, but what I was saying is there probably won't be a need to tweak anything with the predator for more power. If they go on the rich side with less timing you're still going to end up with plus whatever horsepower. Unless you want more horsepower there won't be any need to go more agressive with the tune. If you do then tweaking for 10 or 20 more hp still might not make sense until you go larger on the boost. I'm thinking with a blower you kind of pick your hp with the blower and then tune so it runs well with that.

The stock ones (borrowed) are on for the blower install/tune only. After that, my hiflows go back on when I take possession of the vehicle again.

Yep, stock cats are back on... 6 days and counting!

    Thanks.

The Predator: you'll be able to adjust shift points and fan settings, etc. Still very useful... remember, our cars run much stronger when around 180ish. Did you ever get the tstat?!?!

As far as more engine mods, this is it for me until the car's paid off. Maybe some tweaking... my next goal is KW & Hotchkis, then half shafts... oh, wait, I need tires like today...

The Vortech kits are shipping with a Predator in the box ready to go as I understand it.
