Hey folks. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the "Service Required" indicator from my neighbor's 2002 Bentley Arnage. After about an hour of jacking with stuff, we're both stumped. Google turned up nothing so far this morning. Any help would be appreciated.
ummmmmm, you would think if someone had the coin to own a bentley, they could take it to a service dealer as well!!! lol as for your question..... have no clue!!! i have barely sat in one, let alone had the chance to wrench on one!!!
its amazing how fast those cars dip in value. for the amount you paid on your srt8, for a about 10k more you could have bought a used 02-04 bentley.
really???? i have never looked at the resale value of the bentley.....never really liked the car that much to begin with!!! lol
all high end cars do chris, unless theyre special in some regard. look into the maserattis, ferraris, etc. my parents neighbor has a racing modena 360 he bought extremely cheap....im talking $80k. i see these wanna be pimps in oakland driving rolls all the time. i laugh when someone actually points them out.
yeah..... kinda like some of the kids i see rolling around here is orlando, with the chin strap beards, and flat billed hats turned sideways in a 10 year old 3series bmw...... rolling like the car actually was expensive...... lol
The "SERVICE REQUIRED" light comes on once a year in the Bentley, no matter what. It's sort of a birthday candle. Since he doesn't drive the car that often (less than 2000 mi. this past year), the request for service isn't really necessary for another 6 months at his pace. We don't have an ODB or ODBII, nor do we have a manual. (I know...it's so odd that ***I*** don't have a service manual in front of me....LOL) Yes- we've tried the NEG. terminal battery pull. No luck. (BTW- the Arnage has (2) batteries...heh heh) He knows that I work on the truck a bunch so he asked me if I could get it turned off for him. My dumbass said, "Oh sure..." LOL He found some instructions on a BMW forum, but those are for the BMW-powered Arnages (1997-2001). His is Rolls-Royce powered (2002). The current ones are VW-powered. The VW forums aren't much help. He can certainly afford to get it blanked, but I thought it'd be quick to see if any of the technical folks here would have any ideas. BTW- I think MSRP on the 2002 Arnages was about $200K. He picked his up (with 12K mi) for less than half that in 2006.
kevan, usually its a computer that does it. if you go into the dealer service area, state your issue, they will most likely do it for free. just tip the mech lunch money or something. i had to get the DRL turned off a family friends conti gt that way. the unit looks a lot like a starscan and it takes a couple minutes.
Thanks Steve! It looks like that's going to be the best way to go. Fortunately, there's a Bentley dealer/svc. ctr. in Easton. He's going to stop in tomorrow and have them zap it. I scored an ODB-II from Keith (thanks man!) and checked it that way. Since this is just a time-thing, it doesn't come up as an ODB code. Technically, nothing is wrong with the car. I tried for about an hour with the "TRIP" and "CANCEL" buttons to clear the damn thing. I managed to get into the menu, but I never got the 'RESET' option. It was fun while it lasted. Not many can say they worked on a Rolls-Royce powered Bentley Arnage.
It really is nice. The rear seats not only recline.....they POWER recline! I'm not sure of the actual size of the brake rotors, but they are GIGANTIC!!! I think they're the same size as my truck (15"), but may have more surface area for the pads. They are simply huge. Why are they so huge? Because the Arnage comes in at over 3 tons!!! :surprise: On the trip to pick up the ODB-II from Keith, I took the Bentley owner for a ride in the truck. Heh heh.....I think he enjoyed it. "Oh, this is much faster than my car."
