I could not believe it I got pull over by 2 cops:busted: for window tint. One was lookin at my windshied tint and the other had the tint meter on my drivers window. It registered for 3% tint on the window with the meter they used. After metering the window then he walked to the back of the car looking at my sprayed taillights but they didn' say anything about that. I just told them to give me my ticket no need to fight about it. Now I have to pay a stupid ticket:angry: . It is a non moving violation and no points so thats good. I thought they were suppose to fight crimes, eat and drink coffee at DD not pick on people for tint so stupid.

QUESTION: Was it overcast or rainy when you got pulled over?

If i put ANY tint on my cars front windows...i can expect a ticket every time i take my car out of the driveway lol....

35% is the limit on the back windows...but the rear window can be whatever...

i think tinting laws are dumb....however i can SORTA understand the reasoning behind it...

NO tint though is just stupid lol

I did it dark because of my audio equipment. I am going to have my windows down when I drive through there again. I am not taking the tint off. I had the tint on for a year and never got pulled over until yesterday.

Thanks Chad. I had a theory about tint being more 'questionable' during overcast or rainy days. I guess it doesn't matter. Just like regular folks, if you've got the look, the cops will check you out.
    This doesn't work very well.
Thieves see the ka-bling on the outside and they know damn well you're not runnin' a stock sound system.

so it wasnt just a fixit ticket? around here, they make you take it off.

more than likely though the cops just pulled you over for looking suspicious.

What I hear, a lot of the busts for alcohol, drugs, arrest warrents, firearms, etc...stem from minor traffic stops. They see something that they CAN legally pull you over for, they will...on the off chance it will lead to something more.

this is true. thats why i thank god im clean shaven, white and drive a car thats not too ostentatious. oakland cops/sheriffs go nutso around here pulling folks over for whatever.

for the first few months i worked and lived in the area, i was being pulled over at least once a day.

now that im known by most of em, i drive with no plate on the front (illegal), dark tint (illegal) and not cats (you get the point). i have met several cops that own chargers in my area and we all get along well.

Yea they said I can take the tint off and get the ticket reduced like what 20 dollars, but why would I do that if I have to pay to put it back on.

Bro, I'd just pay the fine and move on, that's what I do, much cheaper than paying to take it off and put it back on plus like you said, it's not a points fine.

Is that differnt in Oaktown than in the Joser?? I got one ... get this ... on my old, beige, beat up, invisible 1989 4 door acura legend sedan a while back, a car that blends into the background so badly you couldn't see it with the Hubble telescope!! I couldn't believe it. Actually got pulled over for just that reason (not possible to speed in that car, lol!). I got the windows tinted cause the car is old and they're not even tinted lightly from the factory PLUS they're single pane and it gets hot in there and TOO hot for the kids. I did it for the kids. Didn't work on the officer tho, prick, he still gave me a tic. But Steve when the lovely oversized green envelope came that we all love to see, it said I could just pay it and be done with it, $80. Didn't have to take it off unless I wanted to and then didn't have to pay anything, just get it signed off, is that dif in Oak??

Same down here bro, same down here, they're nuts! Not only did I get pulled over in the "fam-mobile" Legend I have (to quote Fletch, "... familiar brown Oldsmo-Buick" lol, I love that movie!) but I ALSO got pulled over a few years ago for no front plate. That's it, no front plate, nothing else ... on an 18 years old car!! Forget the cars speeding by at twice the limit while I wasn't, and forget any serious crimes going on nearby, he got me for no front plate. UNBELIEVABLE!! Idiot cops!!

IDK, the bs story I got from cops over the years dealing with tint on my Mustang was that it "interfered" with ones ability to drive by limiting your vision. Whatever ... go eat a donut or something, or hey, look over there, someone's getting murdered, how bout you do something bout that.

my understanding was that the cops needed to be able to see in the car for things like weapons and drugs or other people....

any popo care to chime in and tell us what their told/the law is?
