Ohhh... my first experience driving stick was my father's attempt to teach me to drive this:

It had a 4 speed manual with a dash shifter... I could barely reach the pedals, but they were much less stringent in Ukraine against people driving with no license at 10 years old.

We still have that car sitting in the garage waiting for us to come back.

One of the instructors in the SRT Shootout at the TE told me 1 in 5 (I thought I told you that??), you think he's wrong? I believe it. One thing I've learned over the years driving cars is that you have to RESPECT that kind of power otherwise you end up a pile of bloody goo.

you have to RESPECT it....that is the correct wording...you cant FEAR it...if you fear it...its almost as bad as not respecting it at all

Exactly, YOU are in control, not IT and once you learn that and learn you can't drive a Viper like a Focus you'll be fine. Problem is most people out there don't have common sense enough to figure that out which leads to a destroyed car and possibly a dead body or two, not good. I mean like this guy, come on dude, what the hell did you think was gonna happen when you floored it with 500 horses?!?! :dumb:

Yeah, its why I don't like letting my mom drive the car, she fears it. Thus she's light on the gas and HEAVY on the brakes....ugh.

When I was driving the viper both times, I was very very very respectful, thus just the toe on the gas and not the whole foot. Then again I played piano growing up and also knew how to work the pedal on a sewing machine. Who knew such dorky stuff would make me better at driving performance cars.

There were some guys at the track experience who I swear came in work boots and used their whole foot to work the gas and the brake. Several broke the gas pedal off the 300 in the drag/slalom portion.

as there is a sudden spike in sewing/piano class enrollment hahahaha

BROKE THE FREAKING THING OFF!?!...i know they arent metal or anything but jesus hahaha....

yeah you can tell who feared the Viper or just were too arrogant cause they ALL spun out many times or just couldnt handle the freakin thing...the only issue i had with the viper is in the stop box...my feet are too big even with just my sneakers and i hit the clutch/break/gas all at once hahahaha....

but when your a size 13 with wide new balances on nothing i can really do about it when the pedals are so tiny :erm:...the instructors basically told us we would all do that hahaha...in their words "dont worry...thats what rev limiters are for" hahahaha

So I guess my relatively tiny feet are a good thing.

Yeah I got extra laps in the vipers because I drove smooth and didn't make the instructors throw up like the other guys. And yes, I did get it up to 70 something in second gear on wet pavement and didn't spin out. :dance4:

I've been to Willow Springs three times and have had the car up in the 100+ range and never went off into the dirt or gravel. Just takes more control and thought than "brake/gas".

"stay smooth stay smooth"...musta heard that one 100000 times hahaha...

some of the guys there had racing shoes on....im not that hard core that i'd go out and buy them but they were pretty cool....it would help me out with the whole big feet thing thats for sure lol

i was one of the only guys in my group who hit NO cones on the SRT/6 (a REAL srt 6 at that haha) / GCSRT8 timed autox course thing on ANY of my runs....

on a scale of 1 - 10...10 being the best driver there 1 being the jackass who walked in driving a civic (yeah he was the one who spun the viper out 10 times haha)....i would say i was in the 7.5ish range...not the best by any means but i held my own pretty good...our course didnt have enough room to get up that fast in the viper though :weep:....i think i couldnt get much above 55ish

Yeah, I have a pair of pilotis with the curved/weighted heel. Very comfortable for driving. I need to get a new pair, my old ones are worn out.

Electronic throttle or not......If you can't feel where your peddle is your never going to launch good.
