In a manual I can up and down shift by matching revs without the clutch (Thanks to the Navy/Rally Racing). But, when you heel-toe-down shift your doing it under hard braking and "blipping" the throttle with the clutch engaged so that when the revs come back down and you finally do get back into the throttle you are in the power band.

What was this thread about again? LOL

You guys might consider seeing if the rear axle assemblies out of the upcoming 2009 Challenger 6 sp can be made to fit the LX cars....going to be an LSD rear with 3.92 gears..

Is this setup mainly a drag racing setup....or will it translate to better handling car for a road course as well?

Probably better for drag racing Rick...but maybe not...I am not a perfessional in that area....and actually a 3.92 may be bad for drag racing...lot of variables here..:erm:

JMatt road races. Maybe he will pop in and give us his thoughts on lower gears for cars on a road track. Wasn't there another member?

Rck, have you been on any courses or only back roads or highways? If you ever want to drive a little north or are on you way to OC or LA....Check out Hwy 74 ("Ortega Highway") between Lake Elsinore and San Juan Capistrano. It is also known as the "The Ortega" by most who run it. You have to play with a few bikes (they are fun to try and keep up with), but the road is kept VERY clean. It has a very windy 10 mile stretch.

You know our cars, geared the wat they are, have a lot of quick power in 1st, which is good for quick twisties. However in longer curves we have to shift. A 3.92 or maybe even a 3.55 may cause the need for a shift to be sooner than we want.

Nathan - I have only been on mountain roads in the Charger...but I will be racing it this year...probably at Willow Springs. Momo and I took Ortega Hwy when we returned from GSM after having my KWv2's, Hotchkis sways, and strut tower brace installed. That is a GREAT run. I should have titled this thread 3.23 gears....because that is the set that will be out for our cars.

Actually I thought when you referred to the 3.55 gears, I thought you were talking about the Viper rear setup from CMJ Performance that is being put on some of our cars. It is the complete Viper raer end with transfer case with the gears and the axles.

Yep the Ortega is a good test road. Did the gus at GSM tell you to take "The Ortega" for your suspension test or had you already heard of it.

I used to have a Kawi ZR1000 and used to live on the Ortega on the weekends. I ran with a Lotus once that was doing 4 wheel drifts through the corners. He had me nervous, as you noticed, in a lot of areas on one side of the "Ortega" is a drop off, of few hundred feet into the trees.
There have been cars and bikes that have gone off the road and not found for days.

We had it planned, although LA traffic delayed our arrival onto that stretch of road by about 4 hours. It was a great ride... I also like the trek up to Julian.

Oh yea the road to Julian is nice, but tends to get a few to many tourists in the summer.
