Hey y'all is it possible to copy a updated nav dvd and use the copy? I would never do this...................... I'm just wondering.:usflag:
i always thought their needed to be some kind of flashing/starscanning to the car??? i remember when my dvd for my nav crapped out and the dealer tech was having to use the starscan to get it all to jive with my system..... not too sure, just what i remember when i had mine swapped out!
A back-up copy of the nav disc used on the 2005-2007 Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep models (nav radio REC) can be easily made using a dual-layer DVD-R disc. There are brands of media that work better than others and a few steps to follow for best results (like slow burn speed). When I had my '06 Jeep I made a back-up copy off of my original disc and used the copy in the nav radio, storing the original at home for safe keeping.
Yes, absolutely. And if you own the original disc it is perfectly legal to make a back-up copy for your own use. With originals costing around $200 I always felt better having a copy in the nav unit, being that the discs can be so easily removed (i.e. valet's).
I'm pretty sure I need to get an updated disc. When traveling to my installer's house north of Detroit it got to a point where the nav told me I was off my specified course and to make a u-turn. I did, drove some, and then it repeated this very phrase. Drove me nuts! ...especially since I was already taking detours and was pretty much lost. Lucky I had the trusty map but still had to pull over to view it.
fess up. Just how many u-turns did you make? There's even a hack for the '07 version to disable the in-motion restrictions. Huge threads with detailed instructions. lxforums?
LOL. I u-turned once, and when it told me to do it again, I almost blew a nut. I pulled off to the right into a parking lot and switched the routing options to "Highways preference" and then I got there the way I originally intended. Quick and easy just like you! :grin:
