So I am getting info on some different cars for my mother (her lease is up and even though shes going to get another benz...wants info on other cars to pretend like shes searching).

One of my stops was at a Ford/Suberau/Kia dealership (i dont know if thats how you spell suby...but whatever lol)....so I get the books on the cars i think she'd want and get in my car to leave. Next to my car is a man, i'd say mid 40's, looking over the new suby that he just bought. So i get in my car and start it up...and i look over getting ready to back out and hes just staring at my car hahaha.

So he comes over and talks to me for a while...but the first thing he said was "this was the car i wanted but my wife would not let me get it"...the look on his face was so depressing it was actually painful hahaha....i actually felt bad for the poor guy....hes driving a freaking forester for god sake!!

so have you ever just honestly felt bad for someone after talking to them? hahaha

Yeah, pretty often actually. Granted I get a lot of people trying to poopoo my purchase because of gas mileage, but I do have a number of experiences like yours.

Happens to me usually at stop lights when a young family man pulls up beside me in a Minivan with his wife and kids inside. I see him ogling over the car and then chirping something to his wife and looking back over. It's happened at least a dozen times. I just think of how lucky I am without even knowing what he may have sitting back in his garage.

Well some folks like us have spines/balls enough to get what we want and others well...

Plus I'm guessing it would have been a fight to get the Charger if I had already been married and with child. Still, Marc said something about possibly waiting for the Challenger to be out a few years before getting one... hmm...

Um, no. The Charger is part of the family now. Thinking of waiting till I'm working again and going shopping. Should be a steal in light of gas prices. :flowers:

steve - i actually get this all the time at my youngest ones daycare/preschool...... i always pull in and park in the same spot on the curb (illegally of course) because the regular spots a small, and with young kids jumping out of cars after throwing open the door of moms huge suv it is safer...... but anyway, i alwys get a few of the dads that just pulled in in their new odyssey, or caravan look over and give that sheepish grin of admiration.... i have had a few ask about the car. i even popped the hood one morning and found myself surrounded by dads and a couple of moms!!!! hahahahahaha

Yeah, but for every priapism..I mean Prius I see two LandRovers, Hummers or BMW X5s. And tons of big Ford trucks. Still, almost every conversation, one of the excuses or justifications is "what about the gas?"

I always respond with... *loud sigh* "If I was worried about the gas mileage....I wouldn't have been shopping for an SRT"

Its really sad that there is a whole group of people who shop for cars based on fuel economy rather than I dunno, handling, safety, reliability?? If they were SOOO serious about fuel economy, they'd buy a motorcycle or take the bus. Even before I had the Charger, I had a Durango because I put my safety/ability to walk away from an accident over how much I spend for gas. Guess I'm just crazy like that. There was a head on accident on the Golden Gate bridge yesterday where a VW jetta creamed a RAV4. The guy in the jetta was banged up a bit, but they don't know if the RAV4 driver/passenger will survive. A lot of good gas mileage does you when you're on life support. :dumb:

good points tam!!!! i occassionaly catch a little crap from people about my car and gas..... i just tell them it was my choice and my wallet...... then i get the crap about saving resources, etc. for the future...... whatever.....i make mone to spend on the things I like and my family enjoys, at no expense to someone else.

as for the safety thing..... i drove old vw bugs when i was a kid, no chance of seeing me in another small car as long as i am driving!!! my kids will not drive them either!!! hahahaha
