No prob buddy, sometimes I actually like to contribute around here with something other than a Momo insult, lol! The 2 main areas I spent a lot of money "re-doing" were the cam and having too high a compression ratio with the heads I chose. Those areas cost me some bucks changing around for supercharging and that's the kinda stuff I'm talking about. If you're gonna go the S/C route, and I'm sure you will (even if it is a couple years away), you can save yourself some money now. And for the record, I foresee the S/C market being huge for our cars down the road, really HUGE!! I saw first hand how the Mustang 5.0 market came along from the mid 80's on up and I know how things go and I can see S/C'ing being just as big a thing for our cars as it is for the Mustangs (even tho we're stradled with the stupid speed density system and not a mass air system). I never really needed to upgrade the stock bottom end of the motor tho, apparently Ford built the bottom ends of the 5.0s pretty stoutly, at least strong enough for what I was doing. Aren't are bottom ends on our Hemi's pretty stout too?? I'm wondering how much you'll actually have to do. Has Ron done anything major?? How much boost is he running, have to check. Anyway, a lot of mods are good no matter what you do but some are more specific if you're gonna be naturally aspirated or forced inducted. Anyway, hope this helps, my 2 cents.
But Rick's biased about 80% road track / 20% drag strip. How about substituting a Quaife for the TQ converter in that list? (and he already has the cats so he can buy beer while everything is getting installed)
The Quaife installed is about 2K, and the TQ converter is about half that. I love the TQ CV on the street. DIY the Quaife is about 3 times the TQ CV. Yeah, more beer. :yahoo:
Bud,Are you handy??Install this your self http://www.bmcspeedshop.com/product_p/4cl218-020l.htm...I think Lou 1355 has a quaffe installed in a rear already for about 1k..Or you can get a forged 6.1 roataing assembly and a cam installed. You will be amazed at the HP gains in just a cam installation these days.Due to the fact that the 6.1 heads flow pretty well.. Then you can go S/C at a later time.In other words start from the inside out..I know you like the twisties so N20 will not be your cup of tea..Ask Cam what he thinks of Stu's spartan cam??However i dont know if that is a good cam for a S/C application..Good luck on your choice
Quaife's are like $1495.00 to $1,895.00 depending on vendor, plus shipping and/tax plus labor. I paid $1,495.00 for mine.
yup, i guess we just found out how much they overcharge for those... getting rid of the one tire fire must be worth it though. :bigwink:
rick - for what its worth, if i was in your shoes, i would go with the n/a hhp combo, quaife, shafts, torque conv....... the power you will make will be actually PUT TO THE GROUND effectively, thereby getting the most out of it!!!! i remember hal saying something in a thread over on the district a looooong time ago about guys throwing all kinds of power out, but can't use it becasue of traction and breaking parts!!! set the foundation and work from there..... the hhp stage II kit will also add some power to use on that "foundation"!!!
Only if it's your's Baby!!!!!!!!Lol. It seems everyone is in agreement about the HHP stage II package. I'm dyin' to get it myself, but I don't want my wife to pull my D*ck off and shove it up my ass!!!! I'll have to plan this mod out carefully. Meaning I might just by parts of the package seperately until I have everything then have it installed.
or do like me, open a secret off shore account, start a company that produces porn related "props", all made by young kids making 2 cents an hour, and bankroll the money for mods.....
YOU! You were actually holding the Predator in your very own hands and pushing the buttons with your very own fingers? If this is true you're going to make an astronomical leap on my technical assessment scale.
Bud is only sort of handy. But he has handy friends. I think Nathan is selling his whole rear end that has a Quaife installed. Not sure what half shafts he has with it.
