Hey I'm good for something besides tellin' people they can blow me...lol. I love tellin' Scotty That!!!! Anyways I've spent alot of time at HHP and have been around alot of the stage II and 426 cars. I have learned alot about their heads and cams from Josh and Bruce and am convinced they've got the best stuff on the market. I'm not saying that to start a vendor war, that's just my opinion and I guess I'm sort of biased. Ask around though and most of the really fast guys on this site know that HHP's stuff is proven fast, reliable and very streetable.
Honestly.......so far I like what I see and spoke to Bruce for hours! Very nice guy and surely sounds like it aint his first bar-be-cue!
I'm just messing with you Steve. I was at Qualcomm December 06 and you were doing some runs. You had just finished run and I was pulling up beside you just prior to the staging lanes (Black Charger SRT8). I asked "you wanna run and get beat?". You looked at me like "WTF?" and pulled away! I was just kidding...but can't blame you for the look! LOL I didn't get a chance to meet you at the LX festival....that was Momo (Jason)! Although, we do look a lot alike! (hehe)
Steve's...I don't really care to hear from the vendors here. It is a "forum"...I'll weed through the advertisement's. I come on the forums to "discuss" others experiences and unbiased opinions....UNLESS, a vendor wants to offer me a deal I can't pass up! LOL
Track? Bud is talking road track, you're not. Rick, first thing you need to do is find out exactly how a S/C is going to differ from a Turbo in the context of your racing. In parallel you could research heads and cam as an alternative. How much HP do you need for road racing? Maybe you don't need to beef up the internals. In any event you surely need the Quaife (and the Razor's Edge subframe?). Do those now. With a limited budget maybe you should concentrate on a purpose built car and forget about the drag strip. You're always going to be able to beat the EQ and even with added power, if you soft pedal it a bit off the line on street tires you probably don't need the half shafts.
After discussing this some last night Rick, if it were me, I would avoid the strokers just for now because your plan 'may' change some down the road. I think you'll be elated with the power a Stage II package makes while retaining the stock block. Then you'll have the coin for the quaife as well and perhaps the halfshafts once yours break haha
Rick, I know you didn't ask for my opinion but I'm gonna give it to ya anyway, lol!! One word ... plan. What's your plan for your car? Once you know what you want out of your car in the future you can decide where to start now ... unless you're made of money and can afford to waste it unlike me, lol! And I'm talking years down the road too, not just around the corner. I spent years and years modding my Mustang and retracing my steps cause of a mod I did that wasn't right for where I was taking the car. Wasted a LOT of money that way and if I had decided ahead of time my long range goals for the car I would have been a lot happier ... and had a lot more money in the bank! Here's the deal, power is addicting, hp is addicting, we all know it and can't help fall victim to it. You get some, you want more. You get more, you want even more. You get even more, you STILL want more, it's never enough, lol, the question is can you say enough is enough? Lol, but true! Since you're talking about a blower already I can bet you'll eventually put one on so in order to save you time and MONEY now I'd personally start by building up your motor for one to start with and then go from there. I have to say there's something EXTREMELY intoxicating about a supercharger, the sound, the feel, the rush of speed, it's undeniably satisfying and you won't be dissapointed. (be advised tho, the "enough is not enough" power thing applies to s/c's too ... I don't know how many pulley changes I've done on my Paxton blower to get more POWER out of it, lol!! Ah, it never ends!!!)
Thanks for the responses Milan and Scott: What does beefing up the internals consist of? Does dropping a 392ci engine accomplish this? And, is that something that can be done for 8k? Or, do I just need to swap out the pistons and few other items?
Fuck, I wish I would've caught onto this thread yesterday! Rick... I told you before... my screen name is automatic advertising for fun and unadultered humor! I'm offended, I respond! Steve, Rick is NOT messing with you. We were bad mouthing you all night long after that incident. Then, I met you at the SF... my opinion changed! LMAO! To say that Rick and I look alike is like saying that Ryan speaks English as well as he does spanish... just ain't so! They're still mad at your MOL or "The Show" poll. You know, he did pull on me last weekend... and we have the same setup. WTF?!?! On Topic: That HHP Stage II setup sounds nasty!
If your on an 8K budget Rick. SC is all you'll get. H/C, headers and cats, TQ converter, and halfshafts should be your chosen path.
