I'm torn between the Procharger, Vortech blower, I-Charger, RDP Blower or Turbo, HHP's Stage II kit, or setting the car up for higher boost down the road by forging the internals. Because of the lower cost associated with the Procharger, or Vortech I'll probably be able to do half shafts and LSD at the same time. It is my understanding that If I do a roots system I should do the half shafts as well...which I won't be able to afford because of the higher cost of the roots systems. I don't care TOO much about setting any drag racing records but I still want to go fast. I like to road race and the ONLY thing that concerns me about a turbo is being able to fit it and still getting the Razor's Edge sub frame connectors (not sure if they'll compete for space). So, I'm trying to "spend" my money wisely later this year because a Navy salary doesn't allow me to spend frivolously. Please help me work though my thought process! Thanks folks!! - Rick

LOL! A centrifugal super-charger will definitely produce as much power as most of the 426 packages out there. A single turbo will also rock too and you won't even know it is there most of the time. I considered these and would have done either...I just finally decided to go for an NA 426.

While at PPP...I saw some things...lol.

My personal thoughts on this is that any of the superchargers or turbo systems put alot of extra stress on the bottom end of the motor. I wouldn't feel comfortable with any of these systems without forging the bottom end which adds alot more money to the build. I'd go N/A with a stock bottom end and would opt for the stage II package, but that's my opinion.

    Rick,

no matter what power adder you go with, or an N/A application, you really need to plan in upgraded halfshafts...

And, if you go F/I, forge the bottom end!!!!!!!!!!!

I have thought about a 426 as well. I'm gone a lot of the time and can't devote a lot of time to tuning issues. Are the 426's able to plug and play as easily, without tuning issues, as blowers and turbos? I have 8K to "spend" and can't afford to have it at the shop dyno tuning it all the time.

i would hold out for further testing off the rdp blower as well as turbo stuff. they seem to be on the cutting edge right now as far as FI is concerned.

of course, i wouldnt do anything until i put some money into the engine and supporting components.

Thanks fellas....That's why I'm "thinking" that a roots blower is out of my budget.

I meant the 426's. I know the blowers are GTG WRT tuning. Congrats on track times buddy!!!

I'm leaning towards a HHP Stage II package with halfshafts, or a Procharger/Vortech with halfshafts combo. We'll see...when I have the money in hand it'll be a REAL hard choice based on MEMBERS opinions!!

Rick, if you're going N/A then the Stage II package is a good choice. I live 10 minutes away from HHP and go there quite a bit to see the many cars being built there. The Stage II package is a great combo and as you know there's been a couple of people that've run 11.7's with this package. The Stage II cars run well and are still docile enough for a DD - alot of this is due to HHP's cams that are running a higher LSA than most of the other vendors. HHP's cams might not lope as much as the others, but the drivability is much better than others. I'm going the stage II route myself sometime in the future if I can just figure out how to do it without my wife stringin' me up by my balls...lol.

tuning on the 426's are fricken crazy brudda... They are easier than an FI application to tune..

Now, if I can get my high elevation tune finished, I should see even BETTER times. hehe

I agree 100%.........very happy with HHP Stroker Cam. I read the specs and it is larger than I would have normally have gone.......but it behaves like stock.....until you get on it:hypno:

    392

All the vendors sell one.......just how far away do you want to deal with it. There are alot of engine builders in SOCAL building them using SCAT assemblies......identical to the Chrysler 392 specs.

The beauty of the 392 is you can run the stock injectors, tuning will be easy and it even responds well to the stock cam!!

Bud, the quickest/fastest 6.1 NA car in the country, DVSSRT8, runs the HHP/BES Stage II setup. He drives it to the track and doesn't strip anything, change anything, just goes out and runs 11.75 at over 117. Most 426's don't run that, and only a few are quicker.

    What!!!!!

No I didnt!! When was that?? First time I met you was at the LX Festival.

Seriously, I do recommend the 392 over the 426.......and anyone who has been through it will tell you that as well.

PM me if you need some "buying power" recommendations, I'll make it up to you!!!!

Hal....YOU, Milan, Adam (1fastsedan), SGTStanko, and Paxton are making a pretty good argument for me getting the HHP Stage II package! I appreciate all the input. Let me know if your (everyone) opinions change. Thanks guys!!
