Here you guys go...SLP line lock group buy! http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6338
I have been trying to hire someone for 8 months so i dont work 7 days a week.....then I will get you a video.....I am going to a GTG in Chattanooga in June..may just do it then.....I also want a video of your sled when PPP is done with it...:deshade:
I was only using the speed thing because the brake holding pressure should be released faster throught the solenoid than thru the complete reaction time between all the normal components invloved with the release of the pedal to the release of pressure on the brake. IN my reesearch on Line loc systems some of the companies brag about how fast (in milliseconds) the solenoid releases. Yes it is mostly clutch reelated issue..... but it also seems to me that timing will be better if you're only concentrating on what 1 foot is doing on the throttle. It is sort of like trying to rub your stomach with one hand and pat your head with the other. One foot has to go up (from being in a forced down position because you are cramming down on the brake pedal) while the other foot is going down on the throttle. I want to time my finger on the switch while I am throttling down. The other foot gets to relax. Also I don't understand why I woulld roll through the light using a line loc, if I am not rolling the light with my foot mashed to the brake. Same pressure on the brake...right.
If you're a hardcore racer, then you're using a transbrake or another means of launching. If you're an intermediate drager, then maybe a button-operated line lock. If you're doing burnouts for fun (like me) or drag race once every time a politician tells the truth, then a switch-operated line lock will work fine. What would be slick is a line lock for each caliper. Check out the Chevy Cobalt ad with the Corvette as an example of what can be done with something like that: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pBs5FuCN8nE If you're staged, your tires are sticky from the burnout you just did. They have a little bit of extra grip and could possibly 'push' you though the light. Your front brakes will hold, but the front tires may skid/slip, pushing you to "red".
Correct that is all I am also talking about is our cars which are mostly intermediate draggers. Regretably a tranny lock is not available for our cars yet anyway. But for use on 11-12 second car that can't even launch at full throttle (most of us have to "roll in to the throttle" off the line), a line loc will work better than your foot on the brake. Remember I am only talking about 1200-2000 rpm launches....not 4000 rpm plus. Most of us are not reving to the point where we will brake the tires loose, because we are just under TQ stall speed. A lot of our PCM's still have touque management programming which gets involved if you rev too high before launching. Maybe a 2 solenoid line-loc should be made to lock pressure on front for burn outs and front and rear for launch. Cool you tube video, I have seen before.
That could be done very easily. I could do that trick with my '70 Cougar and about an inch of snow back in high school. Haven't tried it in the truck. (yet)
