You'll like it a lot. If you want to do the paint fill and don't know the trick to it let me know.

Back when I got it they were not painted. But he had pics of some that were and people wanted those so he would do them on request and then he just started painting them. So that's painted. But just in case you wanted to change color or something...

hmm, yea. To remove you use the proper solvent - depends on the type of paint. Nail polish remover, paint thinner, laquer thinner, whatever. To paint fill you get the proper paint for the material. I just went to the hobby store and showed it to them.

You don't need to be very careful. Just get the paint in there and don't worry about the edges. Get a fairly small thin cloth like from a sheet and dampen with solvent. Wait until the paint is just starting to dry. Fold the cloth over a straight edge like a credit card or something. Then you just lay the edge on the top at a small angle and drag it over the paint fill. Repeat as necessary. 'Cause it's on a straight edge it's only going to neatly take off the paint that's over the edge of the recess. Looks just like downtown.

    It's like a watch.
Or billet under the hood except that you're looking at it all the time.
You have your hand on it most of the time you're in the car.
It's like a front door on your house. It's the center piece of your car.
    It makes a statement.
Nothing worse than a crappy shifter or one you aren't totally happy with.

Finely crafted billet is the only way to go. Accept no substitute.

(ok, maybe a finely, hand crafted, exotic wood one from Howdee)

Yes, that shift knob is awesome... but I still like the wooden shifters like those of the 60's!!!

I personally have always liked the stocker....I looked at those knobs a while back, but just decided to stick with what I had. I put the fancy SRT8 3D emblem on it and it looks pimp!

I like the smooth-topped '08 knob. I figure the truck already says SRT on the seats, and gauge cluster, I drive with my hand on the shifter... so I'll save the $ for my next perf. mod., or tank of gas. But if ya like it... DO IT!

A wooden shifter?!??! Why not just paint a confederate flag on your roof while you're at it! lmao

I had one of those billet knobs in my first jeep. It was cool, but I HATED it in the winter. It'd be frozen and so cold to the touch. Then in the summer, if the sun is blasting it, it's scorching hot. Not to mention how dirty it looks from hand prints. Not worth it in my opinion.

Told you. How does it sit in the Jeep?
It is just a hair taller than stock in the LX's which makes it the same height as the console top when in drive. If you rest your elbow on the console it's a straight shot to the shifter top instead of having to reach down for it.

I bought one a while back and had it powdercoated black, had it in the truck until I had patterntek cover my interior bits in the CF pattern, then I put the stocker back in with a squigmang CF SRT sticker cover and it fits much better than the black one did. . . and to be honest, after having both, I much prefer the lighter feel of the stock shifter, JMO though! Let me know what you think after she's in Wade!
