I have a custom nitrous tune built off R18. If I update my predator to the newest version what will happen to my nitrous tune?
It should work fine, be sure to save a copy of it before you restore the backup file, as that will erase it from the tool. Thanks Mike
Mike, (I'm pretty sure you've answered this before but I think I have Alzheimer's) When moving a tune between different CROM versions the Quick Adjust parameters could be different if you've made changes to those from one CROM version to another right?
If you have gone in and made adjustments on your predator via the end user options on one tune YES they will carry over to any other tune you send to the Predator I found out the hard way and was almost not a good experience
I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. There are the parameter changes and there are the Quick Adjust parameters. Lets take AFR and Shift Points as the examples. If you make AFR changes to a tune and then save it to your PC the AFR changes are part of that tune file. So let's say your tune is 12.2 AFR and you add 5% fuel with the predator to make it 11.8 and then save it to your PC. When you reload that tune file from your PC it will have the change in the tune itself. If you don't reset your parameters on the predator to default then you would be adding another 5% on top of that. I suspect the quick adjust parameters work differently. I think the actual quick adjust parameter changes are implemented in the CROM and it's just a flag that's set in the tune or maybe only kept in the Predator itself. Let's say you select raised shift points on the predator and that gives you shifts at 6400 rpm. Then you save the tune file to the PC, change CROMs on the Predator and load the tune file back onto the Predator. 1) I'm not sure if the raised shift point selection is carried with the tune at all. You may have to have raised shift points when loading the tune to the car. 2) If it is carried with the tune then it may well be just a flag for "raised shift points on" and the CROM itself implements that when loading the tune to the car. In this case, if Diablo changed the shift point to 6500 in the next CROM you would get that instead of the 6400 in the previous CROM. So while the tune files MAY carry the quick adjust parameters as "flags" I think if they get changed from one CROM to the next then you would see that. That's what I was asking about.
QA changes are not in the tune. Loading the tunes from revision to revision loads all of the tune changes, and then QA changes are applied to the tune through the Predator. Thanks Mike
