Hey guys, I'm getting my nitrous installed, and I told them to change the plugs as well. The guy doing the job, tells me "Oh,well that will be another hour to change the plugs", on top of the 6-8 hours/$135 per hour, I'm paying these dudes to get my nitrous set-up rolling. I almost told the guy to f*ck off right there. Anyway, does it really take an hour to change the spark plugs on a GC SRT8, or should I go back there tomorrow and start beating @ss.
I haven't worked on a Jeep, but on the LX's an hour is generous. Save your $100+ and do it yourself when you get it back.
I have not done mine but should not be that bad, just remove the coil packs and get to it, just be sure to check your gaps for the colder stage plugs as they are not the same as stock and make sure they are torqued down in there right but not too much and put some antielitical grease in the boot before snapping the plug wire back down
I do it in about 45 minutes with hand tools. I'm sure a pro with power tools would be a little quicker. But remember - there are 16 of them to change. The guy shouldn't have to work like it's a race. I'd think 45 minutes is fair.
It sure seemed like an hour that you were bent over changing your plugs at the Spring Fling Ron.....UNLESS, you were just "trolling". hehe
Jred, Chrysler's warranty time to replace all 16 plugs on our Jeeps pays 1.2 hours so I would say that would be in the ballpark. However, I'm sure it could be done in less amount of time. Driver side is always a pain in the ass.
1.2 hours? Yea, with 10 5-minute coffee breaks thrown in there, lol!! Dealers, sheesh, everytime I'm at mine the mechanics are always standing around.
dahahahahaaha Between you and Ryan taking turns at my AZZ, talking to Ralph Gilles, I got the plugs changed in about 45 minutes.. lol
