So it wouldn't matter if it got the low marks for longevity. It would matter if it got the low marks for filtration.

Well, sure. But the engine might only last 150K instead of 155K.

Nice post Milan, interesting study. I'm always a little weary of "studies" cause they all seem to have some hidden agenda and will bias their results accordingly. This one tho seems pretty straight forward, not bad. Personally I like to go by what's actually happening out in the real world, what others say and what others have experienced.

That being said, so everyone ... what's the best filter then? The Napa? What about factoring in price? And what's the worst? And what's the final verdict on the Mopar as well as the Mobil??

One last thought, being as most of us prolly change our oil fairly often (like 3K) to where the filter isn't used for that long a time is it really that important to have the best one?? Or the opposite, since we use synthetic oil that lasts longer is it more a necessity to have the best filter?

I have a service plan at the dealer so I get it changed every 3 mths regardless so I don't think it has as much of an impact when the oil is still relatively clean. I purchased the Mobil 1 filter for now (Napa pissed me off...damn place closed early on trwo different days I drove there haha) for some work I'm getting done...otherwise I would have went with the Napa Gold.

Hey Milan, this is a little off topic (kinda, sorta) but too bad, hahaha, what oil does your dealer use, the Mobil 1? 0-40W? I think it was Momo that put up a thread recently on Mobil 1 changing and it not being approved for our motors anymore, is that right? At least the 0-40 right?? Today I got mine changed and have a pretty good dealer (5 star) and a pretty good relationship with my adviser (9 years now) and I mentioned it to him but he hadn't heard anything. He checked around and said no one knew anything bout it and that it's also the oil they use in the Vipers too (they're fairly big on Vipers there too) so they'd be on top of it if there was a problem. He gave me the number of Chry to call and ask but I said they prolly don't know anything anyway so I was just wondering what you're doing, still using the 0-40 Mobil or what?? Next oil change I'm gonna use something else but not sure what to do yet.

Well since I was going right into the motor for my install, I decided to go with the Royal Purple XLR (?) stuff since Bruce from HHP recommended it but I fully expect to go back to Mobil 1 0W40 from the dealer if that's what they are continuing to use. I'm sure there would have been a service directive if it was something of great concern.

That's what I thought but ... momo made it sound like it's old news and we shouldn't be using that oil anymore. IDK, maybe I'll just use some monkey grease instead, got any monkey boy? Hahahhahhahaaa

Amsoil 5w30 and a Napa Gold for my 426. I still wonder about the 30wt but if it lubricates what it is supposed to then less drag is better than more drag.

Those are the same filters, cept one has a nut on it (K&N).

YES it's important to have a good one; at 3k changes the filter is probably more important than the oil. The cheapie filters will have cheapie non-integrated bypass seals.

K&N or Mobil 1...like the K&N better because of ease of removal, but it's a little more expensive.
