after looking at the close up pics of the tubes alone, i can tell they are done using a positive mold of some sort (wax, plaster, etc) then a dry lay up, vacuumed under a pva bag, then resin introduced into the bag, and then strung out. i can see that a carbon BRAID is used, as opposed to a cloth. hence the herring bone weave pattern,as well as some "irregularities" in the pattern. these look A LOT like the type of things i do at work!!! i utilize cf braid a lot for laminating the sockets that patients limbs go into on their prosthesis. scott - am i pretty close here??? what kind of resin is used??? epoxy, acrylic, polyester, etc?? what are you guys doing for the final finish?? sand and clear coat??? how are you ensuring uniform wall thickness, if in fact you are fabricating these with a dry lay up??? also, how are you ensuring there is no de-lamination of the fibers at the end points of the tube??? are you guys using a gel coat or some other kind of resin for the finish surface to seal everything??? cf has a tendency to become brittle depending on the resin used. just curious. i have a friend that makes cf intake manifolds for turbo application for air cooled vw's. once you have molds, then the rest is pretty easy if you know how to laminate!!! well done guys!
