I did some research on that and even though it is called 100LL (low lead) it still has a lot more lead than race gas and burns at different rates according to rpm fluctuation. From what I found, its definitely not the best choice especially when running nitrous since its intended purpose is to be used at constant rpm (aka airplane) which can lean or richen the AF mixture with the turn of a knob. Try to stick with unleaded race gas as your first choice then run leaded race gas if you absolutely need to.
It was a suggestion if racegas was not a option. I personally run C16 which has lead and Ive never had a problem in many years of running it. Another thing to remember is rear 02 sensors are for emissions and front 02 sensors are for cruising around. At WOT, 02 sensors dont even come into the equation, moral of my post. 02 sensors are kinda overrated, we ran our race car on C16 for 3 years straight on the same 02 sensor and it never died. The lead will do more harm to your cats than it does to your 02 sensors. Since I dont have Cats, lead doesnt effect me in any way shape or form.
Just a small point that doesn't really have anything to do with this discussion but might clear up some misconception for other people. What you say is true in itself. At WOT the O2 sensors don't come into the equation (sort of) but they DO effect WOT indirectly. The O2 sensors feed directly into the short term adaptives. The short term adaptives feed periodically into the long term adaptives. WOT fuel is determined by adding a fixed amount of fuel on top of the that from the long term adaptives. The long term adaptives are what determines the base injector pulse width. So, yes, if your car is running fine (around 14.7:1) when you're just cruisin around then your WOT a/f will be where you think it is. If the O2 sensors are bad or innacurate it will effect your WOT (indirectly). Another REALLY small nit is that I think, even during WOT, the PCM monitors the O2 heater circuit. Sorry for the interruption but I just couldn't help myself :sorry:.
I've got a challenge race Friday night with a TBSS, so I might just take a side trip to the speed shop for some race gas for Friday night. The track is an hour drive from the speed shop so I"ll have to put 5 gal in make it to the track and make several runs. Also, I've had my 02 sensors turned off since I got the Kooks Hi-Flows. What kind of affect do you think that is having to my short and/or long term adaptives? Yeah, BLTFED, got the email and appreciate all the help. We are moving in the right direction.
Jimmy, rear 02s are for emissions only. The most the rear 02 sensors do, it turn on your check engine light.
