Now that my AFCO coilovers are finally on all four corners, I went out and lowered my car:

Here's how my car was set up to start with. I think that was pretty close to stock height at all four corners.

Then I lowered it about 8/10ths to an inch all the way around:

Hard to really see, so I artificially lightened the pictures so you can see in the wheel wells.

How much lower are people realistically riding on bumpy streets? I can go at least another inch down if I want to. If anything - perhaps I should lower the rear end another 1/4"????

And by the way - it was relatively quick and easy to do. I don't know if photobucket lets you see the advanced properties or not, but the "before" picture was taken at 1:08 PM, and the "after" picture was taken at 1:34 PM. So that was 26 minutes, including changing all four tires, torqueing the lugnuts when I was done, putting away the tools, and getting the picture taken. If I had a helper I think I could have been a little quicker. (Floor jack and hand tools only)

Good point. I'm looking for my "street" setup. Depending on how low I go, I'll certainly need to raise it back up at the track. But changing ride height on each corner only adds about 1 minute - 2 at the most, to the time it takes just to change the tire anyway.

Any opinion on street ride height? What would you do compared to my current "after" pic?

I think the after pic is about perfect. The last Maggie I had was lowered and I loved it.2" in front and 2.5 in the rear. That car was an R/T so for yours I'd say 1.5 and 2 " total.

I guess that it depends upon how good the roads are that you travel. I lowered 1.25" all around and I had to raise it probably just to about where you are now. It looked good but I was scraping the front too much for my liking but I am talking Ohio roads here where nothing is smooth, flat or in good condition. Dips in parking lots and entries and exits to drives seemed to get me the most. Once I raised it, everything is fine.

Adjusting the KWs is not as easy as your system though. It took more than a couple of minutes per corner for me and I was on a lift. I wish your system would have been available but I got my coilovers early on. Your system seems to have both functionality and ease of adjustment advantages over the KWs.

I hear you on the roads. I'm in Indy, and our roads are HORRIBLE. Some of the worst roads I ever drive are in the final 2 miles of my commute to the heart of downtown Indianapolis. I'll see If I do any scraping this week. I do think I'm going to go out and lower the rear another 1/2".

Lookin' good Matt. Funny, out here in California I don't have to lower my car at all to scrape the front end! :thongue2:

Coilovers are definitely a slick deal....just have to make sure you get the pre-load close on both sides or you are going to be adding wedge to your car....which I guess aint too bad, you'll just want to be turning a lot!

OK - so I went out and lowered the rear end another 1/2".

Put the floorjack under the differential and lifted. Rear tires dropped out of the way enough that I could get to the ride height adjustment without even taking off a tire. Took about 2 minutes total, and I took a couple of new pics:

You have a link to these coilovers? I have been thinking about going lower.

LOL - that may be the funniest thing you've posted. I'll leave the turning left to you. Everyone knows I'm the straight guy. :dancing:

But seriously - that's a good point. I actually have someone help me measure the left/right ride height (with me in the driver's seat).

Ultimately, I'd like to get a set of scales to get the rear weights close to equal. Although because of engine torque at the starting line, you could ideally preload one rear tire slightly more than the other.

The link is in my sig. Rears have been available for about 2 months. Front prototypes have been on my car for a week. Production units expected in 5-7 weeks from now.

AFCO should have a set layin around....I'd help you set that beast up, but im a good 600 miles away...ideally you want to measure from coil plate to coil plate instead of the fender, but I am guessing its hard to get in there...

Would you believe they didn't? They're the ones who pointed out last week that I ought to get a set of scales. But dang - $$$$$$$. I'm guessing your experience in setting up a car outweighs my experience by a factor of about 1,000.

I'll be real interested in some of your knowledge.
