Any Six Sigma folks on here? I'm thinking of taking my classes and getting my "Green Belt". Just curious to see if it's really worth it, besides just a bullet-point on a resume. ..... For those of you saying "What the hell is "Six Sigma"??? ... Take a look at this link. :zorro: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Sigma
its called something else for me but its all the same crap...its always a good resume addition though...and worth it if you got the time/will lol and good luck explaining it hahaha...you can talk to a SS Blackbelt and have no idea what they are talking about hahaha
Its a resume builder for sure. There are a few guys at work that are suppose to take the class. Due to my poor social graces and lack of teamwork I am not one of them. Thank god.
jake - i am working on getting my black belt hopefully soon!!! i am the lean manufacturing coordinator at my office. yes, i make legs, and many people do not equate a lean work environment with custom fabrication, but it does work!!! my facility won the central florida manufacturer of the year award in 05' soon after we implemented lean. i have looked at six sigma (what i call quality control through statistics/data) as the foundation of whay makes us better than others in our industry. bottomline, six sigma / lean is a very big part of my work life and daily venacular!!! hahaha oh yeah..... is it worth it???? if you are in anykind of manufacturing industry then ABSOLUTELY!!!!
LOL! I know what you mean... When I worked for Penske, I had a chance to take the course for free. It would have been a good idea, since the courses are about $5000 (for GB and BB). :stars: It's a very nice thing to have on your resume, in the Logistics industry.
Thanks, Chris... and good luck on Black Belt! I thought about LEAN as well. Do you think it would be helpful to take LEAN before SS? UCF has both/all classes available.
i found lean to be the needed first step toi really understanding what SS was talking about. SS deals heavily on processes and constantly improving them. before you can improve something, you really need to have a decent understanding of what a "process" is. i could not imagine doing SS without having a decent lean background.....
LA LA LA....I DONT WANNA HEAR ANY MORE ABOUT LEAN!!!!!! LA LA LA!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha... god i hate that crap at work all day long lol
haha...its more that its worthless if all the people who use it...are too busy in the LEAN classes to do their jobs haha
easy buddy!!!! lean is the reason i have a job right now!!! dahahahahaahha well, maybe not the real reason, but its what is got me on the radar with the upper parts of the food chain in my company!!! hehehehehe
hahaha...well just dont take up all your peeps time with lame ass classes which keep them from work...haha :worthy:
no, no..... i conduct a simple "lean 101" class for all newbies that come into the lab. it is essential they at least get some exposure to certain terms and concepts. when i ask someone to tell me the levels of their kanban, i want to make sure they are not thinking i am getting personal!!!!
