Well, we had a great time! Ryan and Moe were no-shows. So, whoever bet Ryan would fail to show, you win! Although, I think Ryan MAY have had a valid excuse. But, he could be lying... lol. Moe's excuse was that his bumper was cracked (like we didn't know that); and apparently, this cracked bumper renders his car completely inoperable. So, Rick, Jeff, Drew and I went to The Brewhouse for lunch and then a 30 minute blast around the Eastlake Proving Grounds and Otay Resovoir. A great time. Our wives and kids came for lunch, so it turned out to be a family event... even better! For those who were going to show, but didn't, you missed out on a good time. *I still haven't heard from Jeff whether or not he shit himself (as he was Rick's co-pilot). BTW: If we find that Ryan was at fault/lying, we are revoking his Official EQ Shirt and subsequently, his membership. We will pay him for his shirt, remove the 'diegochrysler' embroidery, and summarily hand his shirt to Jeff. This measure was passed by the three EQ Original Gangsters.
wish i could of made it. but i couldnt pass up on the dodger tickets we where on TV the entire time! right behind the catcher. then in front of us some SD fans (chargers, Padres). oh man my bro gave em so much SH*T!
Yeah, whether its Oakland or LA teams, the native San Diegans have a bitter rivalry with them... myself, I'm not from SOCAL originally, so I don't get too worked up over it. Although, I do like to see the Chargers do well.
I had a great time guys! It sure beats the sitting around in folding chairs sucking each others cranks!! We also did a stop light race between Jason, Drew, and I....guess who won?? Now, pay in mind I had Jeff sitting in the passenger seat!
Ok...So here is my take on the day. It started when the postman delivered my TPS at 11:30 in the morning, so I scrambled to put my throttle body back together. My test drive to check it out was the ride to the brewhouse...so far it's working good.... Anyways, I was sitting in front of the Brewhouse for about two minute or so, when I hear the slight rumble of a big displacement V-8 coming my way. I look up and see Jason (Momo) rolling through the parking lot. Shortly after that, Rick (Bud) and Drew (Stretch) pull up. As their respective wives/kids show up, we are discussing Ryan's (Diegochrysler) inability to show up....So now I've been to more meets then him...LULZ<---for Rick.... Anyways, We all go eat at The Eastlake Brewhouse. Very good food. I recommend them to anyone. So, I pay my bill, and we walk outside. I decided to leave my car at the restaurant and ride shotgun with Rick. This is where the fun begins.... As we head towards the resevoir, Rick pops it a bit sideways onto Telegraph canyon road. Nothing serious, but enough to warm up the tires. As it turns out, All three SRT-8's are stopped at a traffic light. Three lanes....three chargers...you do the math.... Amazingly, Rick won the jump and subsequent race despite having the extra weight of me in the car. That, and I think Drew just sat on the line spinning....So we head off to the proving grounds for a quick test....at this point, I'm amazed by the sheer power of the car....Then we hit some twisties... Now, to be perfectly honest, I'm surprised my asshole didn't suck the seat right up there. I don't think we went below 60 once.....And these are corners marked for 25...We made it to the fishing pier/boat launch and waited for Drew and Jason t catch up. When they got there, we spun around....in place...with lot's of smoke....and aimed the nose back towards the road. Then Rick offers to let me drive.....Of I said yes. So now it's my turn. I'm used to driving a decently high HP car, but all my power goes to the front wheels. I can't hook up to save my life.....Ricks car on the other hand, has some nice sticky tires and has the something I'll never ever have....RWD. I cannot believe how well that car handled. I've never had any sort of formal driver training, but I felt like I could take on the world in this thing...Granted, I didn't go as fast as Rick was, but I was going faster then I could in my car....For a two-ton car, it's very nimble on it's feet. So we head to the other side of the resevoir and cruise towards the old 94. I'm not even pushing it hard, but it stayed above 80 pretty much the whole way. Didn't even feel like it. It felt very controlled even at those speeds. There was some more high speed runs through the twisties, but our day was cut short by Drew's oil temp getting a little too high. So, we head back. With Rick back at the wheel, we head back n Otay Lakes road....he put a little oomph into it going into the corner.....I was looking out my passenger window to see Jason's smiling face....we might have been a little sideways....don't know for sure.....I was once again worried about my asshole eating the seat... All in all it was a good day. Great food, family and fun. I can't wait till the next one. Maybe I'll unleash all the power of the mighty neon...:rofl: Good times. To all those who didn't make it....well....sucks to be you.
Definitely a good time. Be even better next time with more people... maybe even Ryan.. OK, well maybe just with more people! Lol!
Seriously guys, Ryan might be in trouble. I heard he was headed north east for a family get together. There was just a report of some pickup truck crashing in Arizona with 31 people in it.
Chris... you drove 3000 miles to visit with all of us. You have 'blanket immunity' from here on out. Rick did launch awesome. I chirped and spun in second... Drew... well... he just plain spun. I placed 2nd. You know Drew, screw it. If its just us 4 again, so be it. I had an awesome time anyway. Nah... his folks use tunnels.
BTW: Jeff, excellent write up... and that sick SOB that was driving you around awhile... well, you were sideways... to the tune of about 40 degrees... and moving around 40+ mph.
I saw you guys flying eastbound just past Hunt Parkway. I heard the distinct rumble of "HEMI's" in the air. I looked up and first saw Rick, then out of no where I saw Drew fly by, and Jason was obviously in the back. I was at my son's baseball game. Wish I could have made it. I would have much rather been hauling ass than standing in that damn heat for 2 hours watching a game. It's good to hear that you guys had an awesome time. I would have made it and planned on making it, but the Mrs. got called into work and that left no one but me to support the boy at his game. Damn priorities/responsibilities.
