Won't work. Just how am I going to handle lighting my cigarette while holding my coffee? right now I can steer with my knees for hands free driving.

Here's another reason. How are you going to do a burnout?

The pedals in a plane are for rudder control in flight, and brakes on the ground. No need for rudders, and the yoke will probably have brakes on a button or something, eliminating the need for the pedals....

My guess is you push forward to go and pull back to slow/stop. Brakes applied as needed. Reverse would probably be a button on the yoke. Button is going to be a toggle thing and not a variable thing.

Yea, you'd have to start with one of those. It's kind of like the Dvorak keyboard. Better, but most people couldn't/won't switch to it.

this idea has been thrown around for quite some time now. it always gets a back seat to the steering wheel and pedals scheme. hell, just look at the most advanced cars on the planet....f1. they were the first to have paddle shifting, hud, etc.

i just look to them to see whats coming out for us in the next few years. well, at least partially.....

Well... mine would easily reach the yoke so I'd only need one hand to take care of both of those. I can see where some OTHER people of smaller stature might have a problem with that.

The shift buttons are in the center of the dash console. The joystick would be a bit awkward due to its placement. If they were to put the joystick directly in front of you like it would be on a plane, then it would be a bit more user friendly. However without the steering wheel in the way there is plenty of room for a nice LCD screen and playstation 3!
