First photos of Maddy (ChargerBaby)

Thursday Update:

Sorry folks, got in late last night/early this morning and went to bed.

No pictures from yesterday. They have her back in the "tanning bed" for more photo therapy. They've increased her feeding amounts and she's keeping it down pretty well. She now weighs 1385 grams or just over 3 POUNDS!! This is up from her original weight of 1190 grams or 2 lbs 10 oz. Yay! Also, we got to bathe her again, which was fun, even if she got a little fussy. :baby:

 

Another night with no pics. Sorry folks.

Maddy's still doing well, just a bit unhappy with the feeding tube up her nose. They're now giving her 3 CCs per hour on a constant feed and she's keeping it down and gaining weight.

She's just very particular about how she's positioned. She's not really digging the elbows/knees and belly position they put her in for better digestion, so she's always trying to roll herself over. She'll get about half way there, then gets stuck because she's not quite got the upper body strength to flip all the way over. She's also frustrated that her binky doesn't give milk no matter how much she chews on it. Its hard watching her so frustrated, but its a good sign that she's doing better. We're doing some stuff around the house today and will go to see her in a little while.

Thanks again for all the kind words and support. Baby girl has another three weeks or so to go, and she's looking better and bigger every day.

Saturday Update:

Maddy's still doing fine, they're upping her milk/formula intake by 1 cc every 12 hours so tomorrow she'll be up to 6 cc/hr. They're also slowly weaning her off the IV, so hopefully very soon that PICC line will be out of her leg. Her jaundice indicators have stayed low since yesterday so no more tanning bed for a while. She slept most of the day today, but I got to hold her skin-to-skin for half an hour which was nice. Apparently mama is way more comfy than the isolet bed. :baby: :happy:

 

Sunday Update:

Maddy's doing well, her umbilical cord plug has finally come off and she's up to 6 cc of milk/formula per hour and she'll be getting 8 cc/hr by this time tomorrow. What this means is very soon she'll be off the IVs and with any luck in a couple of weeks they can replace the feeding tube up her nose (see pics) with bottles and breastfeeding. :happy:

 

Monday Update:

Ok, no pics today, but Maddy's up to 3 lbs 4.5 oz and gaining about 40 grams per day. They got her feeds up to 8 cc/hr but she started spitting it back up, so they're backing down to 2 cc/hr, increasing it back up to 6 cc/hr to see how she handles it. Good news is she's pooping on her own finally. Oh and yes, she's looking great. :happy:

 

Another note on Maddy's progress. Again no pictures, but we'll take some more later in the week.

Maddy's back on her feeding tube and back up to 8 cc/hr and she hasn't been sick at all in the past day. We suspect it may have been the iron supplement they were giving her as both her grandmother and her aunt had/have issues with taking iron supplements and it upsetting their stomach. Also, some babies just don't handle it well. She's up to 1510 grams or 3 lbs 5.26 oz. I got to hold her skin to skin again and she was the calmest I've ever seen her (steady calm heart rate, constant breathing rate, good oxygen intake). When the nurse took her off me to put back in the isolette she was very upset. I guess I make a good couch/bed. :happy:
