So, tonight I finally had my chance... My buddy at work owns a decently modified Mustang GT...2002 I think. I'm not sure of all his mods, but it's not stock. We both work the night shift and finally, tonight, we had our first chance meeting leaving work. Conviniently, we both live in the same area:thumb: It started out on the the highway...did a quick 70-100 or so run. Not to much. But, I pulled ahead. Traffic was approaching, and I refuse to play in traffic. So we keep going and get onto a state highway...this time it was a 60 roll. honk honk honk...and we're off. This time, there was no chance. I got the jump and stayed a good car length ahead. Again, traffic was ahead, so we stopped. We yet again got onto another interstate. Amazingly enough, this one was mostly empty. So we line up, get to about 60...and BAM!!! I jam it into third and we go. He got the slight jump on me, but he was done. I hit my sweet spot and was gone. At ~9, I jam into fourth. At this point, I was about half a car ahead. Fourth pulled me to 125 or so. I was now about a car and a half ahead. Problem is, I missed my shift to fifth...it didn't go in, so I ended up just revving real high in neutral. Anyway, thats my story. It was all in good fun. And for those who care, my spike was ~20, held 18 at 10.0 AFR's....if I had a good tune (or race gas on HOM...lol), it would have been more then a car length...
tune that car! if he's stock you should have beaten him by a lot more than a car....you're running so rich it's killing your powerband!!
Isn't it fun killing mustangs, must be especially nice doing it in a skittle, damn some of you guys got fast ones!!! WOOT!! Nice Jeff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More info on the 'Stang, please? Oh, and maybe later this year I'll have an even older foxbody Mustang LX for some of you to pick on ... rop:
Tell me about it. When I dyno'd last year at 311, it was also at 10.0 AFR's....I got all the monitering devices...now I need a tuning device... And he's not stock. I know he has a cat-less exhaust, a big throttle body, CAI and a big MAF....I'll find out what else he has....
10.0, yikes! You're spewing raw gas out the exhaust, lol! Tune that bad boy Jeff and you'll really spank him, those 4.6s need heads and cam to really wake them up.
Actually, the UEGO only reads down to 10....it's probably deep in the nines... I found out the guy with the Moostang has a full catless exhaust w/headers, 80mm MAF, 80mm TB, CAI, and he has ported/polished heads with bigger valves. Don't know how much HP that equals, but I know it's quicker then your typical mustang.
nobody admits to getting beat by a neon. I have a race set up with my brother. he has a 93 mustang gt with a 331 with ported twisted wedge heads and someother stuff, and a cam that is way too small. this thing is a pig. my 94 gt tore him apart with a stock short blockand edelbrock heads with a b cam with 373 gears. now it is the neon's turn. the way I see it if I loose, well I got beat by a built mustang ( which I really don't think it will happen) and if I won he just got beat by a neon. I know I would be able to face my freinds easier than he will ether way. I just know for sure though he wants nothing to do with my stang anymore. 427 windsor,c-4 and 2 stages of NOS
I'm willing to bet hes 20-30 HP over stock IF THAT, Headers really don't gain all that much on a stang.
no but if he has port work and bigger valves, then yes it could really wake it up. don't be fooled I have seen cars pick up as much as 80-100 with that kind of work with stock cams.
Oh I'm not fooled, I read over the Port & Polished part with valves. I know a little something about mustangs.
not saying you don't at all. I know some also. just saying if you are planning on doing something with him be careful.
with those mods he is prolly making a good 70-80 over stock... and you can trust me. i build turbo mustangs and corvettes everyday...
