im driving and it wouldnt let me shift to out of 1st and it wouldnt go past 4000 rpms. i would put it to manualy shift it, and it would go back to first...before that the parking asist light came on to service it, could this be involved with this? has anyone had this happen to em?
4000 is the rev limiter when you have it in neutral. just a note, not that it has any connection. People have have experienced similar behavior when using a Predator to disable ESP. Also people have had similar behavior when using the predator to change the gear ratio when they still had the stock rear end.
There are some "electrical" gremlins associated with this Jeep as well. There are many threads about this in the troubleshooting section of the cherokee forum. I had this problem last year. Happened about 6 times over a couple of weeks, and then has never re-occurred (this was before the Predator came out). Some speculate its a bad ground wire, others say to make sure all the wire connectors on the pcm are tight. Other's have had their shifter assembly replaced. The SRT engineers heard about this in one of their chat sessions, and don't have a specific answer for it. One thing I noticed is that in addition to the service 4wd system display, the dashhawk would show all sorts of crazy displays/numbers while this occurred (I believe that MSD also says to cut one of the pins on the OBD connector because it too may cause similar problems). Here's some of the threads: http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8341&highlight=service+4wd http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php? t=7123&highlight=service+4wd And many many more: http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/search.php?searchid=566011 http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/search.php?searchid=566048 Hope this helps Pieter
did you do anything before this happened or did it just happen after nothing had changed for a while?
i went to the track thursday i reset the comp at the track and its been happening ever since, i removed the pcmbat fuse and put it back in.
Im pretty sure I recall Diablo(Mike) posting that disabling ESP on the Predator and driving is a no no. It is only meant to be done for dyno purposes. As others have said, Ive read (Red Site)about nothing but problems when people do this. Did you only reset PCM or did you also disable ESP ? Good luck and hope she gets back to normal soon
Never drive around with the ESP disabled on the Diablo. Its probably gonna take a little time for the pcm to relearn the normal operation.
did you check on your diablo to see if the ESP was turned off will only take you a few seconds to verify
wade i dont even know how to use the dang thing..when i go do my breaks at gs ill tell em to check it out...
I think I may have misunderstood you. What exactly did you do that caused this? Did you have custom CMR tune made and put in the jeep and then is started doing this? From the symptoms you described it sounds like what happens with the ESP disabled and going into tranny limp mode.
i drove it today for about a hour none stop it hasent done it anymore, i called wade he walked me threw it, thanks wade!
i dont even kno bro...im guess it was the esp thing? but i got my tune like 2 months ago, didnt start happening till i reset the comp fuse at the track..
