I finally cut out two windows in the trunk to adjust the rear KWv2's. I wasn't sure initially how much I would actually tinker with the adjustability of KW's. After doing the cuttnig the windows I've found myself adjusting them every few days to get the perfect daily driving settings. When my 64 year old mother was in town I really softened up the settings and she appreciated it. When I head over to the Eastlake Proving Grounds for some spirited driving I really tighten em up to handle the twisties with grace. What would be the best launch setting....soft in the rear and tight in the front? Either way, I'm really enjoying the adjustability of the coilovers!
BULLSHIT!...I challenge you to find ANY thread that I have hijacked in the past three months!! hehe I'm going to use my mod powers and delete the past 3 replies....
I believe it is rebound (dampening)??? I know they are damper settings...is that the same as rebound?
It's all dampening/damping. Compression is resistance to the tire going UP. Rebound is resistance to the tire dropping DOWN.
Ah, who gives a fuck whether dampening refers to rebound or your girlfriend's panties... Rick is the only person known to the SRT world who actually adjusts his KW V2s on a routine basis! For that alone, he should be congratulated!
LOL - No!!!! There is Compression dampening, and the is rebound dampening. KW only has one, and I don't recall which.
It won't make much difference what you do. If you get wheel hop, try setting it soft. Then start stiffening a little at a time to see what happens with your 60' times.
JMatt, have done anything else to your car other than whats in your sig...halfshafts? I would think so, right? If thats the case there has got to be a lot of really pissed off folks out there who've spent much more on there car than you and don't come close to you quarter mile ET. LOL
That is in your sig! Some just don't get it. If you can't put it to the ground, you ain't moving forward! My good friend Gilgamesh has 12 thousand million horsepower and just spins and spins and spins on street tires.....hmmm Dave!!! LOL Even Ron has drag radials!
For drag racing you usually want the front to come up easy but go down slow. This causes a weight transfer to rear for traction. The rear is adjusted from about a 50/50 response usually altered to adjust (utilizing the extra weight transfered from the front) for traction control losses caused by torque pull/twist.
LMAO!!! Rick, on my Saleen I have adjustable Koni shocks and I've found messing with it over the years that when I set them on the softer side the rear of the car really bites for launching. HOWEVER, it's as squirelly as it's ever been around corners, ALWAYS getting sideways ... and not in a good way. When I tighten them up the car sticks like glue around corners, the rear stays right in line unless I break it loose with the throttle. HOWEVER, it doesn't launch worth crap, just spins all day long. I've found for me a good compromise in the middle somewhere since I like doing both! BTW, I didn't check this morning but was that the right Hot Rod TV last night??
scott your always cruzing with heavygirls...thats why you get good traction dont blame the kw on your saleen..LOL
