I'm in the process of getting my Stage 3 kit hopefully in the next month or less. My goal is to hit around 400whp with bolt-on's. What mods would I need to support that and make that power or at least close to it. My current mods and what I still need to order is listed in my sig. I'm also thinking of doing the DCR Stage 3 mod but some of my club members said one of the member's lost power from it and I'm just really stumped on what to do with the Stage 3 turbo or just leave it alone and throw it on the car the way it is. I'll have the TiAl also if that's any help.

400 on HOM. What mods would I need to make that happen? I'm sure there's tuning involved.

Well, you can start with the basics, intake, throttle body, port work for the intake manifold, exhaust manifold and turbo, tune the fuel with an SAFC or something else, 3" o2, 3" downpipe, 3" exhaust, and then throw in a methanol kit. That should get you easily over 400whp on HOM.

Sounds good to me. So far I have 3" intake, 3" o2 housing, 3" downpipe catless, 2.5" cat-back which I might sell for a 3" cat-back, AGP Hardpipes, CTI Hotside pipe and Big FMIC. I plan on purchasing a Ported Intake manifold and ported 55mm TB.

Watch out for that TiAL exhaust wheel man, they have a nasty habit of separating from the CHRA. This is what will happen to your exhaust manifold when the brazing fails and your TiAL exhaust wheel disintegrates.........

What you are left with is a $1,200 paperweight. Honestly you might want to look into purchasing a ICONEL(steel) assembly(I believe the entire unit runs $500-600) and save yourself the heartache of a destroyed S3 Turbofold. I wish I would have:weep:

Also don't even bother with the DCR S3 mod, thats money flushed right down the toilet. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask. I've been through hell and back with the S3R..lol. I made 400WHP and 476WTQ with my 44lb/min upgraded wheel on STOCK S3R FUEL SYSTEM/STOCK HEAD/CAMS in HOM @21 PSI with the usual bolt on's You'll love the STG3, killer powerband that doesn't stop :good:

SST S3 <--- that is all you need.

with your mods, 400 on HOM will be easy.

I'd steer clear of the SST as a 49lb/min wheel is far too large for a TD05 housing. From all the dyno sheets I've seen the SST doesn't produce an ounce more HP than a 44lb/min wheel, not to mention all the smoke and mirrors that John@PTP has a penchant for using. I'm quite curious to see some solid numbers out of the 47lb/min wheel with the EVO 8 exhaust wheel, I feel this may be the best performer of all the big wheel stage 3's as forced performance has the right idea of matching a larger compressor wheel to a larger exhaust wheel. I'm not a big fan of aggressively clipped exhaust wheels in order to satisfy the compressor sides need to flow more air than the exhaust side can handle.

I've already ordered it with the TiAl since most of the people in my club said to get that one. Hopefully I won't have problems. Do you have any suggestions on the Forward Motion E3 upgrade?

i agree that the dcr mod is a waste of time. it doesn't really do a whole lot. i'm also on a unmolested s3 turbo.

your experience with the tial wheel is not the usual though. the tial is a much better unit than the steel wheel, it's actually stronger and has better spool time. turbos fail, it happens. unfortunetly it happened to you and that sucks. but others shouldn't be told not to get thtat turbo because of one failure.

you couldn't pay me to run that turbo. or the e3 for that matter.

Would it be possible to make the 400hp with the following mods?

    - Stock Stage 3 turbo w/toys and TiAl wheel
    - JMB 3" Intake (installed)
    - Maxxfab S3 3" o2 Housing
    - Needwings 3" Downpipe catless... of course (installed)
    - Mopar 2.5" cat-back (installed)
    - MPx FMIC (not installed yet)
    - DCR Ported Intake Manifold
    - DCR Ported 55mm TB
    - CTI 2.5" Hotside pipe (installed)
    - AGP Hardpipes with w/BOV (installed)
    - South Bend S3 Clutch
    - AGP Returnline Kit
    - C16 Race Gas on HOM

Let me know if I'm missing anything else, if it can't be done with these mods I listed. I still have plently of time to get the parts since I'm still waiting on the kit.

You have no idea what your talking about.

John has NEVER lied to anyone about anything. Everytime his earlier turbos had failures, he was the one who admitted it.

I have an SST in my car right now. I've been running it at 20-25 psi (depending on octane in the tank...lol) for over a year. It has performed flawlessly.

There has not been a single failure of the S3 SST to date, and they have gone over 450 WHP on the dyno with it.

But, if you don't want to use one, then don't. I'm not holding a gun to anyones head....

At first glance I thought you said you'd have to wear a g-string to keep from passing out... had me really confused... :tooth:

Clipping the exhaust side is not really a good idea on any turbo. the 49lb/min wheel is extremely choked up in the TD05 housing. both of these practices have been heavily tested in the dsm community and are both recognized as a "half-assed" way to increase the flowrate of a smaller turbo.

not gonna bother since you're obviously a die hard ptp nut swinger and it will just start an argument as it always does with your types
