Chris, what you're saying very similar to our situation, and when she sees my face light up over something like the Predator or a nice timeslip, she know it makes me happy Although we need to talk about this "slush" fund you speak of lol. SWEEEEET Sometimes I wish this was the case with us...but its not. Wifey is very smart herself and I wouldn't have it any other way...even if I don't get everything I want NOW...but she gets more joy from buying things for a good deal...she doesn't want flowers ever...considers them wasteful, expensive handbags...um..nope. As long as things are in the budget within a certain time frame...we're good. Applies to both of us...but she doesn't want that much for herself. Even if I go and buy it...
Reading this thread brings back memories of a similiar discussion on the Charger forum over 2 yrs ago.....when I owned the Charger RT (before the SRT8) I came in from the garage one night and my wife asked me if she tattooed "Hemi" on her rear would I give her as much attention as the car.....I said "well..hmmm"......:flowers:
LOL, Larry... Chris, Thank You. Yup I do believe I picked a good one. It took two times to find the right one and I'm forever thankful I did. She understands my fascination with vehicles and doesn't begrudge my involvement with them or with other owners at club events. She makes jokes about the hours I spend in and around the car but she also enjoys the automotive scene with me and loves to meet the people. We are hosting an event in our area next weekend for the local LX owners and she's really looking forward to it. She is also going to the SRT Experience with me this coming March. Some years ago, when we owned a '95 ImpalaSS, I showed her how to drag race. Little did I know I was creating a monster!!! Now she's asking me to find her a '71 or '72 small block Malibu and build her a street / strip car. So, it appears my mod time will be split between two vehicles but I don't mind being her pit crew. So, it's all good.
LMAO..this is a great thread...i get the same thing....you're not on the forum again....what just came to the house.....how much wax do you have to put on that thing......they just dont understand!!!! Must be like me and why she has 400 pairs of shoes and 200 purses.:dumb:
milan - when i got married for my first time in the early 90's, my wife and i were young and all of the money went into one account for us to scrape by. even then i was a car modding addict and it was always tough to do the things i wanted to do because had to clear it with her. fast forward 12 years, remarry my current wife. both of us make nice livings and were well established before we met and married. she kept her accounts, i kept mine, and we opened up OUR accpounts. Then of course college for the kids, investments, etc. are in both, but i told her early on that i will always have a pre determined portion of my salary put into an account just for me, with only me having access. she agreed and said she wanted the same. no prob with me! this works VEEEERY well for both of us. only issue is since the acquisition of the charger, hers grows, ours grows, but mine seems to be shrinking...... hahahahaha
I know it is an old thread but, You guys who are having marriage probs, you need to read the 5 languages of love. Awesome book. I know I am only 25 and have only been married for 3 years but this book will make sure my wife is happy for many years to come. Mt Dad read it after his divorce from my mom and said if he would have read it 10 years ago they would still be married. Good read worth a shot for a happy Sqaw!
im blessed to have an older brother whos a golf pro. i almost feel bad when i get all this high end stuff and still blame the equipment for my duck hook. :cry2: all i can say is i thank god i havent gotten shackled yet. i cant stand someone telling me how to spend my play money. if i wanted another mother, i would never have moved out at 18.
In the months before my divorce my ex wife would go on rampages about me modding my car and how I loved it more than her (this was after she dropped 20k on shoes, clothes, gambling, dinner and drinks). I finally got fed up and said "Of course I love the srt4 more than you for 30 bucks I can get a helluva ride all week long." :tomato: Seriously though my girl now is great. She is not into cars much but is still supportive. The only request she makes is that I come back to her and my daughter safe and sound. :deshade:
3 years............HA!, are you f'n kidding me.................a book??. :novote: Let me tell ya something bud and I'll make this short and sweet. Been barried for 20 years. Hell if I knew then what I know now. I'd have been paroled loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong ago. :thongue2:
A book!, yeah right. Let me tell ya after 27 years... A good pud thumping across the forehead once in a while just to let her know who's boss. Thats right you stand, she kneels facing you. Then 6-12 good thumps about the forehead and top of the head. She'll calm right down... no more diareah of the mouth!!! Damn, I keep forgetting I'm a vendor now, oh well, want a shifter?
