Hello everyone. I got the Autometer A-Pillar Dual Gauge pod the other day. They only come in black. Does anyone know what paint to get to colormatch it to the interior? I know Duplicolor makes paint for this, but don't know which one would be the closest match. Thanks in advance. izza:
thanks for asking the question that i was gonna ask in 3 weeks when I got mine hahaha...way to watch my back! haha rop:
I figured on priming first before paint. Should help. I've seen the other matched pods, but those block outward view whereas the Autometer doesn't.
Use normal car paint. Don't waste your money on so called 'plastic paints' when all you really need is a good key and some plastic primer. Also, paint is not indestructible. Good Key->Plastic Primer->Basecoat->Lacquer is all you should need depending on the finish you want. Take a piece off and scan it for the exact color.
Milan how well does the paint adhere? I have always found paint to be easy to scratch off plastic?...
its all in the prep work larry. just like many of the plastic parts on our cars that are painted, it just is the utilization of the correct primers and sealers to get the best results. there are acutally etching primers that will bond themselves to the plastic to allow you to paint without concern for peeling.
I expect a full and detailed write up of how you paint this bad boy J so that i dont F it up when i do mine hahaha :thumb3:
Test fit was no prob. Maybe I'll order the other brand just so I don't have to deal with the paint matching.?.
Nevermind. That pro parts pod really blocks your outward view. Which is why I went with Autometer to begin with. OK, back to paint matching.
