-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- hi guys, did a quick search, and couldn't find anything useful. Anybody whose changed their tranny fluid any advice? I only have 20k miles on the Jeep, but I am a stickler for stuff like this. Any tips, tricks, or helpful info, I would like to do it myself. thanks, --C
You can drain it yourself but a complete flush is good so that it hits the torque converter and really cleans it good and mind as well replace both the filters while the tranny pan is down. I would suggest putting in some Amsoil ATF to keep the tranny running cooler as in another thread I tested the Mopar fluid vs. the Amsoil and the Amsoil ran 80 degrees cooler and is compatable with Chryslers ATF+4 you can even use it in the power steering.
AmsOil, is that a fact, and it will be perfectly ok/compatible? Sounds good. Yes, I was planning on the filters also. thanks guys, -Chuck So it is a regular straight forward procedure, I assume. I don't have time for surprises. LOL

..thanks for the great info Tex, I just wanted to be double sure because I read on one board that everybody swore you needed to put the stock Mopar stuff back in. I will see what I can do before this Sunday's drag session. Gonna try and break the record.....haha. later dudes!
The Hemi truck guys swear by the Amsoil stuff, and Amsoil does claim it works for ATF +4. Personally, I'm going to try it in my 300C SRT-8. I explained what I did in my PM to you, but also agree with everything that's been said here.
Wow Wade, I was under the same therory as Kid that you had to use the factory fluid. I used the Amsoil in a old PowerStroke I use to have and you are correct, temps run cooler and it takes a hell of alot more abuse to get the stuff really hot. Thanks :gotmail::thanks:
I'm goin with Amsoil as soon as possible in my juicebox. The tranny will thank me later:tropicalwind:
