The cam is very affordable, especially if you are a do-it-yourselfer. But even if you're not, the FRI labor rates are very fair. This is a much better bang for the buck than headers. That's why I did this mod first. But don't forget to budget for a CMR tune. James at Frank Racing has the tune for this combination nailed. After 5 hours on the dyno tuning and tweaking at the drag strip, I would look no further than him to get yours dialed in.
Probably 10 rwhp in the higher rpm ranges. The cam is what brought the big gains in low and mid-range torque.
Interesting... though not news... Guess that's why the well designed smaller LSx grinds always seem to beat up the "donkey-dick" grinds on the track... huh...:woot: I know for a fact the guys at PPP as well as Ed over at Southern Hotrod have grinds for every taste and application. Stock displacement, high torque grinds all the way through larger, stroker based profiles. That way they can cover all their customers' requirements. After all, impressive results are what separates all that internet hype from the truth. Ed
Those are great numbers Patrick.....for comparsions, I just ran Saturday here in MD., outside temp was 59 degrees. My best run was 12.66 @ 107.10 with a R/T of .436 and 60' time of 1.799. I'm installing a ported, polished and thermal coated intake, thermal gaskets very soon. My goal in to run low 12's without Nitrous or FI. We'll see.
Those are excellent times. Very similar weather too. Your headers are really making some power. I hope to have those kind of gains when I add them soon. My goal is to run 11s on motor before the end of the year and 150 mph in the standing mile. I'll need headers and ported heads to do it. I've got the headers on order, but I am still looking at heads. In my opinion, the right heads will be the key to this whole 11 second heads/cam quest.
Getting into the 11's without spray, FI or a different bottom end is going to be tough. Not gonna say impossible, but nearly none the less....
That's OK, they used to say that when the LS1s first came out. I was first to the 12s with an automatic, first to 11s on motor, and now if you can't run 10s with just heads and cam with an LS1, you're considered a slacker. Paradigms will shift for the Hemi Jeeps as well. It will just take a little more time and some better components.
